    Hey BHW,
I have a YouTube video and I'm trying to rank it with 3 main keywords. I have optimized the title with my main keywords but I found more medium and low competition keywords with good search volume in the same niche. I optimized my description with those additional keywords. If I start building links for my main keywords + additional keywords is there good chances I'll be able to rank for both keywords?

If its possible I don't have to create more videos for each keyword I find.
this can be used in article marketing too.

Just focus on your main keywords only mate. The alternative keywords are only used when you can't rank the main ones.

As far as I'm aware, it is possible, but you are most likely to rank for the main keywords you have optimized the title for.

Yeah you can do it, but I wouldn't recommend it based on my own experience. Try to rank for the main keywords instead

Of course, actually today its very rare to target actual keywords with links.. so using lots of lsi anchors then relying on good onsite seo to tell google what you are actually about "targeting" you could say. So with things going this way you will begin to rank for all sorts of variations of your actual keywords.. this is the way things are going now.. the semantic web.

I am not sure about Youtube but in Google, you can rank for shitcrazy terms which do not even target or never would want to target. I had done SEO for a small local business once using his targeted keywords. It was pure whitehat SEO and after a few weeks, he achieved his desired position. Then after sometime, Google started working so weirdly that terms such as "prostitution in town x", "call girls in town x", "horny girls phone numbers in town x" etc. started to rank in Google where his business is located in town x. He and his employees at his business started to receive a shitload of unwanted calls asking for prostitutes and what not. He was seriously pissed off on Google for those weird keywords that Google has pushed up his business for in their search pages.

So, yes Google search behaves shit crazy at times and you can literally rank for untargeted or at times even unwanted keywords.

It would be a good idea to rank keywords that you don't target but it would still be better to focus more on your keyword. The traffic you would gain from these low competition keywords would be small compared to the traffic you would get from your main keywords once you have optimized it really well.

I haven't been using main keywords in more than 2% of my anchors since 2013, it's just too risky. I find the safest bet to be using raw URL's and a TON of keyword variations and LSI's. As long as your main keyword is in your title and content, you should rank for it.

I agree with Sonir. Don't waste your energy for nothing. If you can't manage for the main keyword, then try alternative keywords.

I do not think so. His business was related to girls/females but definitely not prostitution etc. Google was ranking his website for shit terms. Lesser searched local searches are extremely erratic from Google from my personal experience. The bot is only good for large worldwide keywords to some extent but it produces shit results for local searches many a time.

If your description is long enough and naturally containing LSI keywords, long tails etc., you can actually rank for a lot of long tails with very little to no effort.

Honestly, I can't see why you wouldn't want to rank for more keywords. Most of the time, the longer the tail, the higher the buyer intent will be.
