I am trying to find potential offline clients to do SEO work for. I know nothing about SEO and will simply be marking up a service offered here on BHW.

    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...al-search-engine-optimization-domination.html

Would you say that service would be enough to outrank a keyword that gets 1000 searches a month and the google keyword tool says has high competition?

I am a huge newcomer with this SEO stuff as this question probably suggests..

    Thanks guy!

1000 broad, or 1000 with exact box checked?

That service seems to cover bases pretty well.. If it is a brand new website, it will be harder to rank until it ages a bit. There is also an issue of link velocity, meaning you have to maintain steady links ... there isn't any one thing you'll do one time and achieve a lasting high rank from, you will need to do maintenance on links.

If I were you, I wouldn't be guaranteeing any #1's ... ever. You could buy 10 times this amount of SEO work and still not rank #1. Guaranteeing top 10 would be a lot less headache for you.

I would strongly recommend that you learn SEO first. If you damage a sites ranking because of what you buy and resell for it, you can be sued for something like errors and omission which is a professional liability type of insurance that is needed to cover. Kind of like a malpractice insurance for professionals. This is if you forget or do not know how to do something. Lawyers have this coverage in case they cross an "I" or dot a "T"

The services on here are great but if used incorrectly can do a lot of damage to the rankings.

Given enough time and work, you can rank for anything. It may be tough but nothing is impossible when it comes to ranking. Those that say it is impossible, don't want to work very hard.

If you don't have experience personally ranking sites in Google from your own work, don't guarantee any specific number or increase. You could end up losing a lot of money. If you are planning to rank #1 from 1 "Blast" of that service, I wouldn't count on it.

From the looks of the service, I would say that you might be able to guarantee a top 100 position, but I wouldn't feel comfortable guaranteeing anything else. It also greatly depends on how established the site is already in the niche which they are targeting. Do they rank for similar keywords already?

Bottom line: Unless god Blesses you on that day, you will not rank a site with 1000 searches/high competition with 1 blast of that service.

Possibly, too tough to say, would have to actually see the competition or the keyword. I've had words that show up 'high' and rank easy.
I just put up a 5,400 exact and it was ranked #18 without any links. I just shot a couple links to it and it's #9. It's "keyword review", and I'm #32 for "keyword" which is 27,000 exacts, and haven't sent a link with just "keyword" in it yet, so it really won't be too hard to get to the to of that. That's with a $12 CPC too.

You should read up more on SEO first before offering the service. Learn the basic of seo first and get a portfolio up. If you don't understand anything about SEO, it will be difficult to answer questions posed by clients. Since you are tragetting offline clients, most communications will be done through phone or face to face, you will not have time to google for an answer if you are stumpped by their questions.

I'm pretty sure the "competition" tab in the keyword tool is for the amount of paid ads, not how stiff the SEO competition is. Please, somebody correct me if this is wrong.

    Also, here's a recommendation.

Find yourself a local keyword you could possible sell a site for later (AnyTownUSADivorceLawyer.com).

Now go to fiverr and do some testing on your own to get familiar with the process. For instance, buy some gigs that are related to the blackhat service that you're looking into like web2.0, articles, youtube, scribd, etc...

Basically I'm saying to take a local keyword that doesn't have much competition and see if you can rank it on your own with any tools you might have, or just order gigs on fiverr and see the results.

More than likely they know a lot less than you do, but you don't want to be doing something detrimental to their business.

Also, just getting a service like that one time probably isn't going to get you to #1 or keep you there if it does, so you'll either be needing to order it multiple times, or order other types of services as well on top of that one. That one you mentioned is a one time of $197 so you'll have to make sure your customers are going to be willing to dole out I don't know...$297 at least per pop to make it worth your while.

Op, So in some sense what your saying is "can I apply a force of amount A to move an object with an unknown mass B". How is anyone going to know?

Every keyword combination will be a little different. Taking into account other variables will give you a better idea. Look at the broad match and exact match numbers both. If there is a huge difference between them there is a reason why. The broad match will take into account stemming. NLP lingo but basically looking at the root of the words and other possible words that have the same root. (Run, Running, Runs, ect.). What that boils down to is there are other keyword combinations that are very similar to the one your looking at. Its best to find all of and look at the exact match for each.

The competition shown in google keyword tool *is* showing the competition for bids on those phrases when buying adwords ads. They are useful but thats getting off topic.

Everything up to this point has really been about finding good keywords to rank for but not really at all about how hard it is to rank for those keywords.

Also look at the number of results in google, both with and without quotes. In some general sense, the phrases with the least results will be easier to rank for. Really though... That is not it. Every page in the results of each of those queries is different in their on and off page seo. Every page on the entire internet is. Those pages are the "object with mass B". Do your research on those pages using any seo tools you can, that can give you a better idea of what you are up against. Don't be deceived though, no tool is going to show you everything. All of it is good info, very useful. It will give you a pretty good idea about how hard it will be to get to page 1. You didn't say page one though. You said #1. Since I have already rambled a little I'll try to sum up.

You won't know until you try.

From my own experiences so far the best advice I can give to someone looking to get to #1 that wants to see real results quickly:

DO_FOLLOW links from high PR (>= PR 5) pages on *different* domains. Preferably form pages that don't have a lot of outbounds and won't be adding any since that will degrade your rank over time.

You really should be doing some testing with your suppliers before you make those kinds of guarantees to clients. You're setting yourself up for failure.

A top 10 guarantee within a reasonable time period ( 90 days ) is much safer. Make sure you limit your guarantee to money refunded so you don't have clients suing you for lost revenue potential.

You know being able to at least talk the talk will go a long way when you offer services to customers. Do a little homework and do some SEO work on your own site. SEO takes time and that turns into an eternity if you haven't a clue.

You want to start ranking #1 sites by reselling services when you yourself know nothing about SEO? That could get you into a lot of trouble if you don't deliver and when you can't start answering questions.

Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions! I'm at work right now but will post more information about the stuff I'm trying to rank for later. I will not be promising any #1 spots to clients, I will be providing the SEO work without any guarantee of increased ranking. And I plan on charging a premium for it since each customer for my clients are worth about 3 grand, so I'll be spending about $500 a month on SEO for them and charging my mark up on top.

Just be careful with the type of links you build for your clients.

While some clients don't care and only want rankings, others will be detailed and be checking for their "brand" online. Last thing you want is some spammed Scrapebox comment on a porn site showing up somewhere.

My suggestion is to stick to the higher quality linkbuilding, and if you HAVE to use lower quality links (SB/Xrumer) then stick to having those being supporting links to Web 2.0 and SENuke blasts.

You are correct in outsourcing your linkbuilding though. Far too many 'new' SEOs get caught up in manually building links all day and often don't provide a lot of results or value as a result.

Well the thing is, in the service I listed they even recommend using it for local SEO clients and say that they also use it themselves for that, so I'm sure they don't do it in a spammy way. Although I'll make sure I look into any service before I use it for a client.

I'm going to post details for an example of one of my prospects in a second.

Here are the details for one of the clients I am going to go after.

The keyword phrase searched on Google with quotes has 48,900 results, and without quotes it has 195,000 results.

Adwords keyword tool shows 1600 global and 1600 local searches montly, and says high competition.

The client has one site on the second page, and another site which is more broad (they sell multiple brands of their product) on the third page. I think they'd probably like the broad site to be worked on for them.

Can anyone give me any more info/suggestions based on the info I have given?

Doing local SEO is very different IMO than doing national and global keywords simply based on the fact that you have to deal with Google Maps, Citations, and other misc. factors that the big G is always changing.

Also in terms of SEo there are so many different factors and variables that just simply knowing the searches would not be ample for a true diagnosis. Also guaranteeeing number 1 is always a deadly problem that those who dont understand the value or diffuculty in SEO think that you should be able to click a button and get your client to number 1.

Outsource here and stay steady with the link building as PHPBUILT stated and if the site does not have a lot of links already built to it than please start off with higher quality links i.e. blog posts on high pr sites + press releases and than build your spammy/low grade links to them as was stated earlier by SuperLinks

Yeah, I can agree that it would definitely be different because of those factors, but I am still confident 2-3 blasts from that service every month would definitely put it right near the top. And with 1600 monthly searches, if my clients site is right near the top I am sure they'll get at least two customers out of it each month.

Like I said, I will never guarantee them #1, I just used that in my thread title 'cause I was wondering if it was possible.

If someone I can trust would like to help me out a bit I can send them the exact phrase I am planning on targetting and the company who I am going to go after, I would highly appreciate it! :)
