My first and only successful domain is being shut down on friday by nominet on the advice of the medicines and healthcare products regulatory agency. This is a UK goverment agency.

I am selling my own fat burners which are 100% legal but for some reason they will not budge and the site is being terminated on friday.

    I have some questions.

    1. Is this because the domain name is a .co.uk extension? Would this not be a problem if it was a .com?

    2. hey said they was only terminating the domain name. Does that mean i can move this website to a new url somehow? Would i do this with redirects?

This really sucks. Once this site goes i go back to have to pay for my SEO out my own pocket again. One of those things though i suppose :)

From the looks of it only your domain is going. Move the content to another domain with a different extension. Of course, you will have to re-do SEO.

If i move the content to a new domain won't it be duplicate content?

Delete content from your existing domain and get it de-indexed from Google before you publish the same content to a new domain.

How did you know you are going to be ban? And yes, delete the old content and wait some time before putting in the new site

If you are 100% sure this is not some sort of prank or a competitor trying to screw you over then the above is the way to go.

If you keep your domain then make sure to redirect it to your new domain so that your old visitors will see your new site.

Move the entirety of your website to the new domain and make sure that you delete the content of the old website.

Deindex your old website so that your site won't be seen as duplicate content.

I'd advice you to go with a .com domain if possible. If .org/.net aren't available either, I'd go with another domain name.

Its 100% legit. I spoke to both nominet and the goverment worker on the phone.

Ok so i need to move the content to a brand new domain.

So the same domain name but diff extension is best right? .com is taken but .net is there.

My site is geared towards google UK. If i have a .com or net how can i have google know this is for .co.uk especially?

Anyhow if they are deleting the domain there is nothing to redirect. You can publish the content immediately on deletion of old domain as google wouldn't find the other content on crawl and only your new domain with content will be visible. So there is no chance of duplicate content. If you still want to be double sure then use WMT and use the option od removing the URLs from google index. That is if u have added that domain in WMT, if not you can still do it.

If you still have access to the old domain, then just delete the content. Then go into webmaster tools, and remove the site from index. Then you can instantly put the content to new domain.

Thanks guys i am so much more clear on the task at hand now.

One more question. Once i switch the domain over should i use the google webmaster change address tool? Or is this not necessary?

If it was a .com they wouldnt be able to terminate at all. You can move all your stuff over to a new domain and keep doing what you were doing before.

Google Webmaster Change address is a good idea - if you can do all that before they take down the old one, you'll be able to pick up where you left off.

This is what i am worried about now.

The email from nominet said i broke laws. This government worker now has my contact details via whois from the old banned site. Hopefully nothing will happen in future.

So i can just apply the google change address and that way i do not need to de-index right?
