If I move content from one site to another and take it off the original site, will Google index the content on the new site?

Maybe, if you do it properly.

Off the top of my head, my concerns would be google seeing it as duplicate content. Maybe check the google cache of the first site before you start migrating?

    it should work
just 301 redirect old site to new site
or if its 1 post, delete the post from old site and 301 (permament redirect) page to new site

this code should work but im not sure
    Code:
    Redirect 301 http://www.old.com/example-post http://www.new.com/example-post

do the 301 redirect - that's the proper way and yes you can do it without dup content penalty

Thanks for the responses. I'm just trying to move one post, it's the static page btw.
Should I delete the post or no?

use html redirect to new posts

Its not necessary, because when ppl go to your old site/page they will automaticly redirect to the new one. Users and bots not going to see your old page.

Alright thank you. One more thing, this may sound obvious to you but do I need to copy and paste the post to the new site?

I think this is not a professional idea to post the content of one website to other website. The content must be unique so that visitor find it helpful and visit again and again the website. But if he find the content copy pasted then more chances that he would ran away.

If you are using wordpress CMS, you can use backupbuddy to move to new website.

Backup and restore on your new website. Then do 301 redirect from the old pages/posts to your new posts/pages.
