I started a music channel in february 2017 but it went nowhere because i was very verbose with my music uploading and the path/direction of music genre was unclear, it collapsed. Now I would like to start a new channel in a very unique niche, very unique genre of music with aim to build a brand out of it, as a record label. But putting in so much effort and time and investment again isn't worth it if i cant earn from youtube ads. Can i still earn from youtube ads in 2019/2020 by uploading someone else's music (promoting artists)? Because ive heard lots of people complain about getting demonetized on all of their music channels because they're uploading music and youtube had put some strict regulations on music channels and this got me demotivated a lot... i dont know what to do

I'm interested to have the answer also (with no copyright music channel)

Maybe if you want to promote small artist, contact them and ask them if they let you reupload their songs and monetize them..

Consider uploading classics instead of popular music. Youtube is not that strict about Mozart and Bach (though you gotta remember that even though the music is in the public domain, the performance is subject to copyright so you cannot rip off records made by some well-known classical musicians) . Besides, you can add some affiliate links in the description section to sell some CDs with classics, sheets, tutorials, etc.

You can't use reused content anymore. It's true. I tried To monetize but doesn't work

what do you mean? if I upload only free copyright music (but not my own content or music creation) , is it still possible to monetize the channel?

That's exactly what I said. You CANNOT make money from FREE music anymore.
Your own music or a label then YES you can :)

You can't monetize it, your channel simply won't be approved for it.

However I've been running a pirate themed music channel since 2015 and I've been selling merch on TeeSpring. Things like actual pirate jolly rogers which are in the public domain, printed on flags, shirts, hoodies, mugs, etc. Perhaps you can try something like that instead.

I am running a very small music channel on youtube about 180 videos all own produced music (my friends). I get like 250 views per day and have a cpm of about 0.38$ which is very bad. I have only one video which is popular and actually drives main part of the traffic. I also use amazon affiliate links and another affiliate link(itunes and another onlien store) but it is really not worth it. So I would not do it again. But also the niche is very low.

You can but you gotta find a twist. I'll give you one. Chopped and skrewed music is a slowed down version of a track for guys who like to drink and etc. Really popular in the South.

I've seen a few chopped and skrewed channels where they do it for mixtape and mainstream songs.

So come up with something similar.

Audio styles like trapmix are still thriving through reputed channels. Maybe, you could make it work with a twist.
