I have 4 websites on the same product/brand. I'm not using adsense to monetize them. My question is can I link the websites together through blogroll for link juice? Will I get penalize?

As long as you don't have them on the same C class IP

Even if they are on the same class C IP you'll get at least a little something - even if its only more links so they get crawled a tiny but more frequently. It certainly isn't going to hurt. And if they're in the same niche if could be good for traffic navigation.

I'd go: 1=>2, 2=>3, 3=>4, 4=>1, this way you get one way links. I'm not sure if I'd go for blogroll though...

i have 2 domains on the same server, one domain from 1999 with pr5 and one from 2009, i only have one backlink from the older domain and it ranks very good for some keywords.

shared hosting is a good example, one server, hundreds of customers... if some of them interlink i am sure it gives some juice to the other domains even if they are on the same server.

i would have thought it wold be better to keep the link open so,

1=>2, 2=>3, 3=>4. So 4 does not link to the others?

Does the IP really matter? I heard that google didn't take into account the IP's but only the domain names, if for example, they are hosted on a Virtual Host correctly.

As for linking, if you have 9 websites in one niche is 1 ->2 ->3 ->4 ->5 ->6 ->7 ->8 ->9 the way to go? Or can you also have some extra's, like 7 ->5 and 2 ->8?

It doesn't make sense to me that a site or sites would get penalized for linking to each other, from the same or any ip. I get that G doesn't want the SERPs manipulated or whatever, but if site a and b are linked to each other, have good content that visitors seem to like (based on time on site and activity), what's the problem.

I'm not saying it doesn't hurt your ranking to do reciprocal linking, it seems most in the know agree that it does. Just doesn't make too much sense though.

I imagine it doesn't 'hurt you' as much (if at all) with Y and Bing.

Type in G, c class SEO hosting. i think HG is #1 for that term, never tried them though. I always just use a VPS and ask my host for new IP's.
