If I make backlinks for my app will it help to increase rankings for a specific keyword? Also, I read about 301 redirects do those work or first level backlinks with keyword as anchor text can work. -

Yes, creating backlinks and choosing the best anchors will help in increasing rankings for the keywords. Don't use the same or exact keyword as an anchor in the beginning.

And yes, 301 redirects works best if the domain has good power and is relevant to the same niche.

If your main keyword is "best dating app" and your brand name is "Dating Forever", then don't use the main keyword in the first few links and use the brand name as anchors.
