Yes, you can install multiple copies of Wordpress in different subdirectories, you just need to setup a separate database for each one and edit the wp-config.php file accordingly. You may even be able to do it with a single database and the WPMU feature that's in WP these days.

you would configure something like this.

www.mysite.com hosted on some hosting company
hostgator or whatever... as long as it allows subdomains

    then create subdomain like this

    blog1.mysite.com
    blog2.mysite.com
    blog3.mysite.com
    and so on..

then install wordpress on each subdomain...
each wordpress installation would have its own database.

like Autumn above mentioned...you can bunch together in one database
... but why put all your eggs in one basket.

WARNING... if you are doing something that G-Monster does not like on
one of your subdomains.... and it gets penalized... then all of the other
subdomains.... and the Top level Domain will get penalized too..

so make sure all your stuff is in compliance.

    Good Luck
