    So listen my story...
Some months ago I bought a brand EMD site (+8 month ago), this brand change his name (long ago some years I think) to a new name, but people keep searching the old brand name A LOT.

    Keyword Details:

    Keyword 1: 130.000 Exact Searches
    Keyword 2: 20.000 Exact Searches

    What's my actual spot?
    #5 on Keyword 01 and Keyword 02

How much I'm making right now?
3-4?/day, before at same place I was making 20?/day (at holidays)

Who is the 1-4 first spot?
The original company ONLY, no other websites, home page as #1 and inner page as 2-4.

Details about the company site and keyword related:
    PR 5 (First result) PR4 & PR3 the rest
    NO Keyword as H1, H2, H3 OR H4
Few words, almost nothing keyword related.
Keyword at title: YES, two of 4 results
Keyword at description: YES, again two of them
    Backlinks: 400000 (+500 GOV/EDU)(6000 IPs)

    VS my website
    PR 0
Keyword optimized: title, description, h1, h2
    Keword Density: 1.4
    Number of posts: 20
    Backlinks 120 (3 GOV/EDU)(50 IPs)

What do you thing guys?? Can I hit first spot on Google??
If I get it I think I can make 50?/day easily with only one micro niche site, for now I'm getting 100-200 visits a day with ultra high CTR.

For now I only bought 1 service for 50$ (contextual backlinks) and guess what, no SERP movement, still #5. I tried this service for another website which have great movements.

What do you think, BUY backlinks and spend 500$ or keep the 500$ as I will not move my site at all. Do you see a great potential as 50? per day?

One more time I need some BHW advice :)

Brand names are a risky venture. You might get a C&D from their lawyers for using their brand name and you lose your investment.

Personally, if you have that much to spend then i would target a specific niche market and not brand names.

The best part is that this brand name is no longer belong to them, or I thinks so, because they change they name.

I really don't know what to do, it's seems risky for me too but if I get #1 Spot I'm king in no time no effort.

On brand names, lots of people use Google as a shortcut to go to where they know they already want to go. In other words, they knew they would be clicking on the actual brand site before they even typed the brand into Google.

Because of this, they most likely receive over 50% clickthroughs (probably far higher) when people search ... thus making them the authority site for that brand name, and giving them sitelinks (extra links below their name to their deep link pages).

Google's quality review people have the ability to assign a brand name to an official website ... and if their site was established as the authority for that keyword already you won't be able to outrank them.

Maybe it was established as the authority long time ago, but now it doesn't.

    Why?
Because they change the name! To another completely different

    The first 5 result:
Doesn't have keyword in title (only some of them)
Doesn't have keyword in url !!!!
Doesn't have keyword in description (only some of them)

And the top anchors pointing to that site are:
    1. No keyword related (17000 ref pages)
    2. No keyword related
    3. No keyword related
    4. No keyword related
    5. No keyword related (1500 ref pages)
    6 and above ???

I don't know, I will be keep making some more content but not buying backlinks for now.

Even if they change their name, they prob would have retained rights to the old name and redirecting traffic.
