Can someone do their own SEO by link building etc? I would like to take a shot at it. Doing it right to! Not buying a bunch of spammy links, etc.

When you say tool you dont mean auto stuff do you? I have always read manual building is best!

Dear,
You can do SEO for yourself. Don't rely on automated tools as it will only support you in the short run but harmful for your site in the longer span. Do Organic link building and rely on organic SEO services.

Absolutely! You should be leveraging services/employees/outsourcers, but only after you completely understand the process to know the good from the bad.
