If I use a video inside my hopage, can I DAMAGE my ranking?
I think it may put some people off as they might not want to hear sounds etc when first coming onto a website or page. Give them the option to choose whether they want to play the video or not.
Enabling auto-play might increase your bounce rate, especially if the visitor is on a sluggish connection. My advice would be what I said in the first sentence...
Any other opinion?
But I think Google like those pages including video or pictures.
Autoplay is good when you are promoting at some place where audience just doesn't pay much attention (like traffic exchanges). Otherwise I'd see it as a negative aspect.
I'd only use auto play on a lead capture page that someone has clicked to internally...
Auto play on a first landing page can be annoying, but if they've clicked for information or a request has been made, then a well-made 60s video explaining the process etc can be a good converter.
I think it is good to have autoplay.
I always hit the close button whenever I go to a page with autoplay and am not expecting it.
It'll increase your bounce rate. Feel free to experiment and check.
