I chose a bad theme that's slowing site down. Planning to switch to Neve.
Site already has quite a few posts ranking.
Will changing theme affect the rankings?

As long as the content stay the same and links and backlinks and images and name of all pages.

See no problam.

The only problam I see is speed of the page hopefully a lighter theme.

So everthink the same just theme changes but it needs to be a faster theme.

Yes, you can. Just make sure that new theme does load faster.
I am planning to use the neve theme. I tested the theme on a test site it shows 100 pagespeed both on mobile and pc

Potentially affect your site's rankings, but it's not necessarily a given. Take precautions during the switch and maintain the same URL structure you should be able to minimize any negative impact.

Yep the url structure and almost everything is the same. Only changed the theme to Neve from bloaty Astra. Even kept the homepage blocks the same.

of course not!

In fact if the new theme is lighter, faster, leaner and meaner then it will help you grow in search engine rankings.

Just make sure that the urls are not changed otherwise it will give exactly opposite results. ;)

Noted. Yep the url structure is still the same :)
With that being said, then everything should be fine.
Alright :)

As i have understood it, you can even expect better seo rankings if you really create a better site

AS LONG ITS USING ITS OLD SAME PATHWAYS ETC

IM NO PRO WHEN IT COMES TO SEO THOUGH

but i own a couple of sites and have always during my years.

Thanks for the insight. My pagespeed insights score increased to 90+ from 65 on mobile devices after switching to neve theme. I am yet to add the analytics tracker code to my site to check the speed. It really slows down my site.

i have seen neve before, i know the speed is skyhigh on pagespeed, the only bad thing is, their damn themes and templates are so shitty in my eyes haha, i don't like them, you found any good?

Not exactly sure. But neve theme seems to be more responsive and light weight. Switched out of that bloatware theme astra.

I just did that to one of my sites. Switched from SmartMag to GeneratePress and it only improved my rankings.
I was initially planning to switch to generatepress. Then checked the pagespeed scores of neve on mobile. So switched to that theme instead. Fortunately it didn't break my site much except the footer.

As long as the new theme is faster, even if you lose some of the ranks, it will most likely be temporary.

In my experience, theme change leaves negative results. However, there is no definite information on this subject.
Can you share more information? Which themes did you switch from and to?
