No, it's still considered a URL even if it's not pointed to a site but why would you build links to a domain with no site? It would be a waste of time, energy and money.

That would be far from natural. Why would you want your website de-indexed before it is even built?

LOL I've never even heard of that happening. That'd be pretty bad though. Could you imagine your domain flagged as spam or being indexed before your site is even built? LOL

Would anyone usually link to a website that does not exist? If not, then you shouldn't either.

Hi Mate, I do this all the time for my clients who are undergoing website development but still want to get started on their seo in order to knock out two birds with one stone.

The key however is to at least put up a basic homepage that includes quality original content as well as a few pictures and etc. Also make sure to optimize your title tags and other on-page seo elements.

Once you have done all the above, wait for google to index your site and once that is done start building links but slowly to not raise any flags since your domain is most likely new.

    Hope this helps! :)

Guys , let me clarify, the website should be up and running in a month, so why can't I start building links now?

sdseoguru, thanks for the reply and I have another question, can I get that domain 301 redirected to my primary domain?

You can always 301 redirect the domain to your domain

I was just talking out of my ass, aha. I have no idea if this can actually happen. If there is no content, there is no reason for G-bots to even load the page.
