My question is pretty much simple, is it possible for Google to see the actual IP of the website when it is behind a Cloudfare IP. Like if we set up a PBN by using that method, is it possible for google to get hold of the server IP.

Google is a registrar, so they can pull the original WHOIS records + if any of your records e.g MX, C, FTP records point to your IP then they know where you're hosting.

no google can't get access to private whois records. and as far as the reverse IP is concerned I don't think Google can trace that.

The bigger problem would be if Google tries to crawl a non-existing link - 404 or something and cloudflare doesnt have that page cached. It'll send Googlebot directly to the site (with its own IP).

Unfortunately yes (If they manually tried to find it, so don't give them a reason too) Google can see the original IP of a website that is behind http://cloudflare.com/. How exactly do I know that for a fact? It got me paranoid at first because I didn't think it was possible for anybody to figure that out. Previously, I hit up Google and basically just started typing "https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=see+cloudflare+real+ip" and the top result redirecting me to the answer.

All you have to do is enter the domain and click search. Afterwards, it finds all of the domains under the Cloudflare IP within seconds. And to be clear, the website is http://www.crimeflare.com/cfs.html. I rarely use Cloudflare, however I do mix a few sites within a variety of my SEO projects that already have unique IP's so everything is safe even if Google does find the original IP behind CF.

if google wanted a server ip of a domain name i dont see it hard to get all google needs to
do is go to the provider of that domain and contact the domain privder for the ip the doamin is pointing to, i dont think that a ip is classed as confidential info especially to big g but also google will ban your domain know that bad your domain from the serps know that bad .....

BTW, the domain would be pointing to Cloudflare nameservers at the registrar, just FYI.

Probably not unless you leave holes like having 'direct' ftp etc. If you've got MX records that you share with other sites that's potentially an issue if you run your own mailserver (mail forwarding from your domain provider is useful).

You know, if you are worried about using Cloudflare with PBNs then I suggest reading Alex's (the pbn dude or whatever his name is, he has a bigass pbn thread here). He explains how things are working.

About leaking the IP.. Cloudflare by default sets your main A entries to be their own IP address, but if people use cPanel for example.. then Cloudflare usually has issues with webmail, ftp, webdisk and so on subdomains or redirects which means people (as well as Google) can get your IP from there. You can disable it in cPanel and I assume from other control panel providers too.

If you know to setup cloudflare properly, I doubt Google can see the IP address behind the domain owner. Again, it might not be helpful if your whois reveals everything. Google is a registrar which is why many believe that even a private whois is often not enough. ;)

Rule of the thumb - do not let anything pass through cloudflare.. nothing at all .. cache up everything aggressively and blocks emails and all other stuff except www and cname.

Yes there are several websites providing the Real IP behind a cloudflare IP.
You can do this easily by yourself with a local port tool or similiar (or with netstat), because the connection to the website will always be to the real IP and not to cloudflare IP.

Even you can find IP of site behind CF by running a command and pinging a server, works only with Cpanel. If you are using Serverpilot, then you are safe.

I've been hiding my personal PBN behind Cloudflare for over a year. Never had a problem.

Keep this in mind as well. Just because Google "could" see behind it doesn't mean that they are using the ability to catch small fish. Google is too big to care about the little picture. As long as you're little and not making much money you're not as big of a target as once your grow. Its like walking though the ghetto. You can get away with it easier when you're a poor bum than if you were wearing a $10,000 suit and draped in gold chains. Doesn't make it smart to walk through the ghetto when you don't have to though.

I never use Google services for SEO and I avoid using real names on registrations because of Google.

simple answer they cant if you setup it properly. set name server / dns all will be oke.
just be careful whit the whois records that will be the only trace.

That being said yes you can use cloud flare service my experience on the free package they can affect your rankings.
The catch is they use around 10 ip`s per dns.
The problem is if theirs a dirty guy/website in the same dns /ip`s, it will affect your rankings in google.

That being said if you dont care about rankings but purely for hiding pbns you should host up to max 5 sites PER DNS.

This means you need to create a new cloudflare account per 5 sites.
