Can EMD outrank non Emd with 40k links

    Looking to rank for a keyword and I have the EMD but out ranked by non relevant site, my competition has near 40 links though.

    If you have to ask, I'd say probably not someone with your skillset.
    But what do you mean non relevant? It's ranking by accident? Or just an innerpage of a big authority site?
    And are the 40k links to that specific page, or to the domain?

    Yes, you have to clarify these things when asking for advice.

    But the answer to your question is yes. You can outrank this site, you will just need to put in sometime and work to get up there.. Also remember that as long as you are in the top 3 positions you should be in good shape. I will take #2 for a keyword anyday.

    Just checking some old domains I have, noticed I had a EMD but at pos 10 - the top guy has 40k to a innerpage, his page is not relevant to th keywords he ranking for, just never seen this before thats why I ask.

    Without age or links, I'd say definitely not. You should run their links through a link checker and check what kind of links they are. Try pointing an aged domain towards that new EMD, iv heard that helps with the age, at least a little bit.
