Sorry for the stupid thread title, I couldn't come up with anything better. I've recently just received an order for a console from Amazon and the outer box came ripped open and somewhat trashed, like someone threw it around or put something heavy on it. The items inside are fine, the console box looks fine too, other than one of the corners which has a large dent. This looks like the box has been dropped or thrown on its corner.

Does anyone have any clue as to if this could cause any potential issues? I know that the actual console is in one of those Styrofoam boxes but I'm a bit worried about the internal components of the console. Does anyone think I should be worried? It will be a gift so it won't be opened until Xmas. If it doesn't work then it will obviously be returned, but I'm more worried about it breaking down later in time...

It depends, probably not but it could be damaged. I wouldn't take the chances though.

Of coarse it can be damaged. Anything that has encountered collision can be damaged both internally and externally. Ask for a replacement.

Looks like I will be having to contact Amazon first thing tomorrow. Just after I ordered someone else left a review that their box was damaged, though this review seems to be gone now, whether sorted or removed by Amazon, I do not know.

It has happened to my laptop. When I first received it, the box had a few dents as if someone just decided to throw it on the ground or they just didn't care handling it.

The first week it worked fine but after a while my fan became defective. :/

Next time, I'll probably buy my laptop locally.

People are handling mail like shit today.
I've even seen mail get "lost" and the only thing returned was the top of the box that looked more "cut into" than ripped. Fucking tired of this.

Goods can be damaged and still look fine.

The post office and most delivery guys don't give a [email protected] what is in the box or how many fragile stickers might be on it.

Electrical Goods could look fine but the circuit boards can be damaged if the soldering wasn't good to begin with.

I thought I'd ask you guys, as I don't want to return something if it's going to work fine you know. I don't want to be one of those customers that businesses lose money over for no reason, but after reading these replies, I feel like better safe than sorry is the way to go.

I just contacted Amazon in regards to this issue and they've arranged an express replacement.

    That's what I call customer support. :D

It really pisses me off the way those fat ass lazy workers do not want to bend over and
just drop the packages unto the dolly or cart. Bend over dumb ass is what I feel like shouting
every time I enter the glorious USPS. Hire midgets if you cant get them to bend over. I am sure
    they would like a job.

Sorry for the rant. You did the right thing sending it back!
