They can file a chargeback through paypal yes, it is best to take a check payment and immediately cash or deposit it, but either way, most CPA companies have some sort of condition where they reserve the right to pursue legal action for the recovery of funds paid out under activities violating the TOS.

So yes, it might be possible to avoid a chargeback, but you run the risk of being named as a defendant in a lawsuit.
TIP: Work with a CPA company located in a country separate from you, accept payment by check, when you get your check, IMMEDIATELY take it to the bank.

If at all possible, always get paid via wire transfers - not ACH. ACH can be reversed, but wire transfers can rarely be reversed.

If the payment is already sent, then you should be safe.

If you were not paid yet, then you should worry.
