Can changing your ip trogh ipconfig /release... be similar to using a proxy, i mean if for example you sign up for youtube with an ip address on your pc and and then change it to a different one and sign up for another account. Will this work ? isn't it like using a proxy or do they save your host name too ?

I used it that way for posting ads on craigslist and it worked. Just make sure to reboot your modem.

Why reboot the modem ? doesnt it like reboot it when you ipconfig /release it, can someone that tested this way verify if this can work with Youtube?

It can be, depending on the range of IPs you have. It won't make you anonymous by any stretch, but it can get around smaller obstacles in the short run.

I have to reboot it for the actual ip to change. When i first started posting on CL i never rebooted and all my ads would get ghosted but once i rebooted it after ever release/renew ads never got ghosted. Are you using a program to release/renew it?

hmm Keep me updates please if anyone knows that this works with youtube. :)

i dont see why it wouldnt. You can also change your mac address and other things with a program called TMAC changer.

ok lets clarify something here real fast

if your using a router this will NOT WORK, as you are just renewing your internal IP

furthermore, 9 times out of 10 even if you do this to your modem .."release/renew or reboot" this will not work, that is unless you release it for about 4-12 hours, the reason being that your mac addy is still in the dhcp server that your isp uses and it will just reissue you your same ip again

if you are using DSL it is a little more forgiving depending on your ISP as some like to issue a new one every time your modem goes offline ... others do not

its a crap shoot if it will work for you, and even if it does it honestly isnt really worth it, as you can switch a proxy 10x faster than you can release/renew

My isp does not renew my ip back to how it was, i used this many time on rapidshare, and stuff and it works but i was just asking if someone knows if it works on youtube, switching proxy is 10x faster but the downside is you need to pay to get a fast proxy.
