Can authority sites be built around very specific topics?

There's this product I've had quite a bit of success with in the past, which is a software product that fixes a specific computer issue, and I've only had the sales I've had with non search engine traffic, so I was thinking it would be good to rank for some keywords for it.

But, I can't figure out what kind of site it should be. I've always heard that it's best to focus on "authority sites", but for this topic, you could only produce a few pages about it on a site at most.

So should I create just a general "computer fixes" site that can be built out over time? Or would it be best to completely have the site be about this very specific computer issue fix?
