I just formatted and reinstalled Windows.. found all the drivers except the one for my sound card. I Googled a lot, asked on Y!.. tried a lot of so called drivers, yet I still can't listen to my music while doing IM. I can't do IM without music.

On lots of software, they detect this, which I think is the sound card name, not the driver name.

    Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller
    ASRock Inc
(*** Note: AC'97 Detection is unreliable)

Will certainly appreciate if anyone bored out there can help me up..spent 4+ hours for this stupid thing, I can't believe I wasted so much time..

well, if it's a pre-built config (PC, lappy?) and you haven't changed the sound card, then you should find the driver of the sound card on the website of your motherboard manufacturer (asrock?) if your machine didn't come with a recovery CD/DVD
check the type of your motherboard with everest, head over to asrock's homepage, select the motherboard, select the OS & look for the sound card driver

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Thank's all for trying to help, nothing worked except honeybird's superb reply. I knew about Everest, yet I didn't thought about going to the motherboard's site. It did worked, and now I have eargasms again! You just made my day, dancing and doing IM all over the house now xD Rep given!
