I'm opening this thread in the lounge because honestly I'm not sure where to open it. This might not be entirely Internet Marketing related, but humor me for a second please...

I have a weird problem. A few months ago I bought a new lap top and was using it so far with no issues. Today I decided to fix some bookmarks and things from my old lap top onto my new lap top.

So, in my bookmarks I have Maxbounty and Peerfly. I can access these 2 sites on my old lap top (Windows 7), I cannot access them on my new lap top (Windows 8.1).

See my "problem?" How is that even possible? I'm using the same IP address, same ISP, no proxies. And I'm not talking about logging in or anything, simply opening them fails... o_O

When I try to open these sites on my new lap top (I tried both Firefox and Chrome) I get errors. Here they are:

MaxBounty gives a Blank White screen on both Chrome and Firefox.

    PeerFly gives this on Chrome:

    "SSL Connection Error"

    And this on Firefox:

    123.jpg

p.s I tried accessing PeerFly with http instead of https, that just gives me a blank screen.

The only difference between the two lap tops is that one is running Windows 7 and the other Windows 8.1. The Windows 7 is in fact a cracked version, while Windows 8.1 is legit...

Anybody got any ideas as to why this is happening?

Bad, forged, fraudulent certificates on the server combined with changes in the Windows code base, Firefox, IE explorer, and Chrome in an attempt to overcome security flaws.

I forget the exact means of overcoming this, but you can find it on the web. Your first step is to confirm that it occurs with the above browsers and not just one.

Thanks for the responses. The problem occurs with both Firefox and Chrome on my one lap top that is running a Windows 8.1 OS, but it doesn't occur on my other lap top that's running Windows 7. So weird...

I just ran into 2 more sites where I have the same issue; a blank page on my Windows 8.1 lap top in firefox, and they work fine on my other lap top that is running Windows 7 in firefox.

    CleanFiles and FileIce...

However, ShareCash works fine on both lap tops, so go figure...

This is so incredibly weird. I have absolutely no idea how this is even possible...:confused:

    I just did something.

I tried accessing some of the sites that I couldn't on my Windows 8.1 lap top through a proxy. And I was able to access those sites.

So, it's not about the Operating System, and it's not about the IP (considering I can access those sites on my other - Windows 7 - lap top without using a proxy)

    WTF???
