Can a VPS on XSserver or the like be infected with viruses?

    Tried googling it and such but couldn't find a definitive answer.
    Everytime I add new lists to check, I check one or two trojans popping out which is really annoying. I wouldn't want my AV to miss out any viruses, so I'll rather go with a VPS.

    But would the VPS get infected with trojans, etc as well? Or does it have a really good AV\firewall software or are VPS just plain virus-proof like Macs?

    They do get infected. I haven't seen a decrease in performance though but I can be certain they have virus.

    Yes it does infect the entire vps, we had reformat a lot of customers vps because their lists were infested with Trojans.

    Here's an answer that I quote from another forum:

    There's also Clamwin and F-prot.

    You may also consider to run your programs in Sandboxie but I find that to be a bit paranoid.
