Does 301'ing EMDs to your domain help you rank in the terms that the 301'ed EMDs match? Or no???

EMDs were a great approach about 8 years ago. Today, their value is very limited, because Big G has largely limited their influence to situations where a particular brand is involved. So, if you're Proctor and Gamble, having palmolive.com is used to help people find that particular product. If you're targeting a keyword that isn't a brand, it's going to be pretty easy for a competitor to outrank you simply by creating more valuable, useful content and building more authority.
