Called out on reddit for plagiarised content on my site. Can they do anything and should I stop posting on that sub now?

Some little snitch called me out on reddit on one reply of a recipe I posted

"This site plagiarizes content. The recipe is from blah."

Can there be any repercussions from this? Redditors are the worst I think for hounding you if they have an axe to grind.

This is vegan niche too and they are the worst of the worst. Redditors are bad enough but redditor vegan I don't want to get on their bad side and they start a personal crusade against me.

Should I quietly bow out and find other places to post now. Reddit they are all amateur detectives so seems it would just be more of the same. I was starting to get some nice traffic on my initial test the past few days but not worth it if they will come after me. I will just try different niches on reddit where they are not so into 'outing' and/or where I am not using plagiarized content on the site.

Why not edit the articles and remove the plagiarism (assuming there is some)?
Seems like the best solution as you will likely get called out over and over again for it.

Probably but I just loathe writing articles :D. If I was making money from the site already it would be a different story. But I haven't made shit on this niche in over a year so I have low motivation. My usual idea is use c+p content to start then if the niche starts turning profit then replace with good unique articles.

Well if you didn't use any copyrighted material (like images) from blah then they can't do shit but maybe spam your posts or get mods to ban you. And if you're too fed up with reddit vegan autists then maybe add some twists to the recipes, so that its not directly the same recipe

Block the guy and keep posting, with Reddit you need thick skin and a no fucks given attitude
Oh cool didn't even think of that! Does blocking them mean they won't be able to see my posts either? So they could not report me again?

EDIT: Oh I see that blocking someone still means they can see your posts so pretty much pointless.

Redditers are smart. Maybe only link your unique recipes...you can keep posting on that subreddit though and hope nobody else calls you out but depending on the subreddit, the users might realize quickly what you are doing. Really depends on the users and mods of that subreddit.

You have 3 options:
1.Stay quite: don't post anything on that subreddit anymore and forget that you did something like that.

2.Give no fucks: don't give a single miniscule fuck about that fucking snitch. Keep posting, even if that means risking your website and Reddit account.

This option has some consequences:
  • You can get banned from the subreddit.
  • You can get downvoted to oblivion.
  • Get reported enough that your Reddit account gets banned
  • Reddittors are smart assholes. If you piss them enough, they can contact the webmaster from whose site you are Plaigraizing content from, and then even send you a DMCA takedown on the webmaster's behalf.
  • The worst that can happen is they make enough Spam reports that Google takes your site down from SERPS.

3. Stay away: Abandon Reddit, pack your bags and move to some more spammier, less moderated social network.

if I were you, I would have choosen the first option.

I block them without mercy and also set my spam filters on my subreddit high on all things because I get a lot of spam.Don't argue with redditors ever. There are some redditors that try to called me out because I'm monetizing my subreddit but I have those comments moderated and I also ban those commenters. You have to be without mercy on reddit.

Seems 1 and 3 are the same? Which social sites you say are more spam friendly?

Yes but blocking is worse really because you won't know what shit they are creating on you when you blocked them.

I think the best way is to just not post plagiarized to that sub. I have a different site which is all unique so thinking to bring that back from the ashes to try with reddit as I gave up with it some years ago when I got little success with it on Google after some of the latest G slaps of the time.

I will also think about phasing out those posts on original site as there are less than 20 posts total anyhow.

Just chill out, especially when we talk about Reddit ( :

Community out there can smell crap miles away :D

Still, we are doing a better job here around BHW

Anyway, relax, create other profiles if you want, block people, there are 1000s of subreddits you can post, people will call you out no matter what [on Reddit].

All the best.
