gov. ahnold just signed the bill that means you can have up to an ounce of weed without risking jail time. seems the 60,000 stupid court appearances every year were costing the state big bux. :cow_yello

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) Thursday signed into law a bill that decriminalizes the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana. The bill reduces simple possession from a misdemeanor to an infraction.

Currently, small-time pot possession is ?semi-decriminalized? in California. There is no possible jail sentence and a maximum $100 fine. But because possession is a misdemeanor, people caught with pot are ?arrested,? even if that means only they are served a notice to appear, and they must appear before a court.

That has happened to more than a half million Californians in the last decade, and more than 60,000 last year alone. Every one of them required a court appearance, complete with judge and prosecutor. That costs the cash-strapped state money it desperately needs.

They will it just a Beta Test, they wanna see how it saves the state money and what effects it will have in general, once it proven to have a good effect on the economy other states will sign the same bill, they can't just do all the states yet not knowing what effect it might have overall.

We had this forever back in Alaska, all through growing up. In like 2005 or so they passed a meth bill and got rid of some of it.

Could grow 25 plants, have a QP in your house and have an ounce on you on the street and no jail time. They undid a bit of it though but its still pretty good.

I think the states in the south and east coast ain't having it.

The other states the have legal medical marijuana will more then likely follow though.

W00t, can't wait until November 2nd. 54% chance pot will get legalized all together in Cali. And as I live 25 miles north of the Cali border, Oregon will be the next in line to legalize it. THIS ONE'S FOR YOUR BOB MARLEY!

The whole war on drugs is just a dumb joke on the population.

It's always "war" on something stupid.

    "War on Poverty"

    "War to end all Wars"

    "War on Terrorism"

    "War on Disease"

    "War on Drugs"

It's just a stupid phrase to get people to rally behind it, which doesn't mean diddly squat.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have costed America about $6 Trillion+ and what has been the outcome?

Nothing except more hatred from people around the globe.

If they really want to eradicate "drugs", then let's start with the Pharmaceutical Companies that supply prozac, ritalin, etc.
