Has anyone run into the problem where Caffinated Content is causing the wp-cron.php to hang? I just started playing with it and it seemed to be working fine but it is using my 25 concurrent process limit at HostGator and is causing my entire package to give a 500 error on all sites! Any ideas on how to get around this?

Yes, add fewer pages at a time, just repeat the process and tell it to produce ~50 pages at atime

Thanks for the suggestion but sadly, I already tried that :(

I only set it up to grab 25 articles and post over a 7 day stretch. I fired up the plugin, it scraped the 25 articles, posted one and scheduled the rest for future posting. From what I can tell, the plugin was done running and shouldn't even have been using the processes. But for whatever reason, it is still sucking up the resources after it is done the task.

Yeah I have the same problem, then when you click on a category link on your blog it get all kinds of different code.

Hopefully there is a solution, because this is a good problem, jus has a few bugs

Just to be clear about my problem....I am having no other problem with the script other than the fact that it keeps running in my processes instead of terminating after it is done scraping the content. The posts and the categories look fine unlike in guruslayer23's case. Sorry fella, I just don't want to spin the thread away from what my problem is.

I have had a simular problem.

On a fresh install I can do an initial content feed quite nicely, but then when i try to run again and add more content it hangs at the "posting" point.

That is weird. I never came across such a problem while working with Caffinated plugin.

I'm using CC with Hostgator with no problems.

Actually, I did have the same issue and thought it was an issue with CC but realized it was MaxBlog Ping Optimizer kept pinging my site OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN so not only was CC funneling tons of content to my site, the content was being pinged a ridiculous # of times.

I decided to let CC add all of my content and then ping it 1x / day.

May not be the same issue you're all experiencing but it sounds like it might be.

Ya I have tried everything. 2 clean installs from scratch, used small amounts of articles and had the support at host gator kill the process once....it just started up again.

CC and Platinum SEO are the only plugins that I have installed right now. Is there something I should look for that could be causing the same problem that you had with MaxBlog Ping Optimizer?

I also went to the default pinger in WP located under Settings > Writing and deleted all pingers except for

http://rpc.pingomatic.com/

Not suggesting you do that but my site went down twice before I figured out the pinging was the problem for me.

I now just go to Pingler.com and update after adding content. Not sure if it has the same effect but I'm sure that it does.

I will say that I just noticed that my CC is timing out (haven't used it all day).

It could indicate that Jason at Kansieo is having issues with his server. I think CC links to his server for verification before grabbing content (not entirely sure though).

If we're all having a similar issue, I'd say that could be the culprit.

I have had zero problems with the account before I activated CC and none since they deactivated it. Actually, they ended all the processes first, everything was fine and then it started up again and killed my account again so they just deactivated it for me and are waiting on me to see what I want to do next. I have no processes running now that would give me any probs. All my blogs on HG run fine and ping with no problems at all.

I wasn't sure if Kansieo was doing something to protect against users who didn't pay for the script (got it off BHW) but it seems others are using it with no problems. I like the plugin and would consider buying it if I could actually get it to work without it putting me out of business after using it.

That could be the difference, I paid for mine.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Long ping lists will really screw up large blogs. Since reducing my list to just 5 ping servers I've had no problems.

try use maxblogpress ping optimizer

u can set how many minutes to ping each service. havent tried yet CC, but if excessive ping is your problem, this might be a solution.

I used to have the open Cron problems with hostgator and I have a paid copy of CC. Here is what I did. I got Hostgator on the phone and asked them what to do.

Easy response. With CPanel 11 you have your choice of CPanel templates, right. Well the Hostgator standard template now has process monitoring capability in the left sidebar. Scroll down and you can not only monitor processes, you can click on link and see exactly what Cron jobs run.

Apparently CC runs Cron Job after Cron Job to download required content to your Wordpress. But it is a known problem that Wordpress is not the best at closing processes..... the cool thing is you can manually terminate any process you want.

So after I know all my content is good by viewing it...I can then feel comfortable in terminating the Cron Job without fear of screwing up the content on the future post.

Fixed....you can control it now with getting 500 error and taking down all your sites.

Personally, I think the CC code could probably use improvement to make this better...but what the hell...being able to download all that good content is worth it!

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Alexa

I have noticed this as well.

Here is what I do.

1. I already have apache installed on my laptop, but you would need to install it
2. install a "dummy" wordpress blog on my laptop "server"
3. install CaffCon
4. Run CaffCon, generate as many articles as you think you can handle.
5. Export the posts using wordpress export function
6. Import the posts into your REAL, hosted blog.

It's a bit more work, but doesn't really take that much longer

First, a big thanks to everyone that helped out on this thread! Now the update....

I think that the main problem was with the long ping list I have. That being said, I got a copy of maxblogpress ping optimizer and got a registered copy of CC and now the site seems to be stable. Thanks again to everyone!
