Buying traffic is useless?

I've read quite some posts here at BHW but one question still remains.
I see a lot of people offering traffic for my website but wouldn't this just hurt my site?

Let's say I have a site with 1000 visitors a month and I would buy 10k extra visitors in March. Google sees increasing traffic and gives + rep for my website. Now the follow months I don't buy any traffic and I get my standard 1000 visitors again. Google notices this huge difference and depreciates my site extra hard?

then you buy the 10k traffic every month. do that for a year. I never bought traffic but if I did that is what I would do.

You dont just buy any old traffic for any old site/url.
Target, Test, Convert, Optimise.

I buy traffic every day and make a profit. Just keep your click cost down and make sure the traffic you send targeted enough that it will convert to make sales.
