Buying niche specific domains for PBN but they get high spam score after some time

Hi,

So I have noticed a pattern that whenever I buy new EMD (and non-EMD) domains with good ranking potential, they accrue DA, PA and a high spam score out of the blue. Now DA and PA are great (obviously) but unwanted spam score kind of ruins the purpose.

I have over 100 domains and only a few have survived this high spam score onslaught. I do not indulge in promoting these domains myself rather the domain name itself attracts possible backlinks.

For example, I buy a niche specific domain and 50 days later I check that it has already got a spam score of 40%. While another domain in the same specific niche has no spam score at all but good DA/PA to start with. I have seen this happen across many niches including adult.

Anyone faced this problem before? And how do you avoid it?

It would be great if experienced folks here could shed some light on it.

What kind of backlinks are showing up in Moz?

You can check this article if it helps

Can I take Moz's word up on this? I have a new money site up and there is this EMD (with CPC value) that I want to use for stealth 301 redirect. Is that safe?

Although the metrics of the EMD are subpar 15 ish with a spam score of 66 but it is in the same niche. Would it be safe to do a stealth 301 redirect to my money site from that EMD? Or should I let it expire.

Spammy Tier 2 backlinks.

1) This is weird, you get tier 2 links? so you get links built to your actual Tier 1 backlinks?
2) How many links do you get and what are the anchors?
3) Does it affect your rankings?

Please read my post again. I don't build links to these domains. They accrue links "on their own" over a period of time.

The Tier 2 reference was used here just to refer to the nature of links these domains attract. The EMD in question did get a "Tier 1" link if you would want to categorise it as such. Also, I noticed that this domain was perhaps "dropped" in 2018 after checking the date of some of the backlinks.

However, at the time of registeration in March 2020, it showed up as a clean domain. I used all the tools to check DA/PA, TF, CF, Spam score, etc. it was all nada when I bought it.

And, no link building is involved... at least from my end.

I never said that you buy links, I asked if your website got tier 2 links? I think you may be confused with the meaning of tier 1 & tier 2.

Your website <---- Link 1, Link 2, Link 3 ...... Link infinity : regardless of their quality, any website linking directly to your site is tier 1.
tier 2 is when Link 1, Link 2, Link 3 <----- get links, so now it's something like:

Your website <---- Tier 1 link <--- Tier 2 link.

Are you getting spammy tier 1 links OR are you getting tier 2 links? (I said get, not buy) :)

Sorry, I mixed it all up. Should have been more clear about tiered links. So, yeah it would be Tier 1 links in this case.

You have had over 100 domains, and they all got those links?
Did you always build your site in the same niche?
How many links did each domain accrue in total?
how many other sites are also ranking for those keywords?
did you lose ranking post getting hit with those links?

Apart from building sites, I am also into domaining. Out of those 100+ odd domains, 30% are ngtlds. They don't get any back linking love. It is only .com's (EMDs to be precise) that get these sort of links. My sites are in varied niches.

I usually don't use these domains for my money sites. However, this time around I wanted to use one for my new site, but the "newfound" spam score put me off.

Question: Are my niche competitors behind these links? Do they want me to drop these domains so that they could rinse them of all the spammy links? Is a 301 redirect from such domains safe?

I have no idea, this is really weird though. You don't even build a site on it and they somehow acquire links? can you PM me a 2 or 3 samples that I can run through ahrefs? and btw, I don't recall seeing any EMD's in SERPs these days. Imo, they're probably an outdated concept. Google has gotten so much better!

Can't pm. My post count is too low or have they changed the rules?
