For those experienced at buying links.

Typically how much do you pay for links? Do you get ever slapped for it?

    How much would you say it costs for a homepage link on a site of PageRank;

    PR #7
    PR #6
    PR #5
    PR #4
    PR #3
    PR #2
    PR #1

It depends on different factors as Derik said (like quality, relevance, total outbound , niche etc), I think you mean for links that stay on homepages, if yes then the price should be:
    PR #7 $4
    PR #6 $3
    PR #5 $2
    PR #4 $1
    PR #3 $0.7
    PR #2 $0.5
    PR #1 $0.3

Build your own NICHE blog network. Lets say you find a high PR backlink from a completely different niche how is that going to help?

I'd recommend building your own niche blog network and using those links rater than buying..

If you are buying links and you DONT want to build your own network just make sure the niche is the same for best results

This really is a very smart price but the quality and the PR should be good enough

I'm surprised at the low cost for these links as I believe a PR7 homepage link to be hugely powerful.

A'm hoping to buy a link at the rate of $80 per month on a PR7 homepage which has only 6 other outbound links. What do you guys think of that?

I've not ventured into buying links before. Do you guys have good success with it? I'd imagine so.

$80 for a PR7 link with only 6 OBL is an extremely good deal provided the site you are buying the links on have good quality backlinks so that it can at least maintain its current PR in the next update.

Based on pure speculation, I believe the PR 7 site don't have good quality links and the owner expect it to drop in the next update hence the low price. Or, the owner is just someone that don't know the price.

People saying $5 or $50 for a PR7 obviously don't know what the hell they are talking about.
