    Hello,
I'm launching an ecommerce store and planning to advertise on facebook, do you guys think that buying few fans is a good idea to start the page. I think it makes the page look more legit.
    Any insights?
    Thanks.

Depends. If you are looking for sales not much helps. If you are looking for traffic, yes it does. Again engagements in FB are all time low, unless you have some huge budget.

Its called social proof. Its generally works on social media. People are more likely to buy from a vendor with 100K followers vs someone with 10.

Yes, social proofs work only with college students. The more matured adults won't fall for that trap. ;)

I think that if you need your likes just for social proof you should buy them for cheaper on bots markets.
But remember that having fakes fans and fans that don't interact with your page devalues the post reach and makes it harder to achieve organic interactions, so buy buying likes you'll have a Fb page that can get interactions solely by buying them.

You might be interested in a small case study I ran last month on acquiring likes for cheap with Facebook ads. They'll probably be a bit more expensive than bot likes, but my likes have stuck (and actually grown by another 200-300 organically) and there's no risk of being banned like you might have with bot likes. Here's the case study if you're interested: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/b...ebook-page-likes-without-the-ban-risk.939341/

The likes on the page help in making your would-be fans to decide whether to like the page or not. On social media, people generally follow the crowd and turn to take an action base on the numbers. You will spend a few $ in getting the likes. You can also get the cheaps likes by targeting the low-cost countries. Countries like Pakistan, Albania, India, Mexico, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philipines and Argentina. This will help you to pay less to Facebook. Then after getting the likes you can start working on your content and boost it to your target audience rather than banking on the likes on the page. I have built pages with the cheap likes. Don't go for the bot likes, they now even seem expensive than the real likes from these countries.
