before you destroy me for starting another thread on expired domains: I am a bit tired as well of this topic but I really could not find an answer to this question.

My question is this: I see a lot of expiring domains with excellent metrics (PR, DA/PA, CF/TF), good backlink profiles (non spammy) + are indexed in google BUT they don´t show up on the first pages for domain.com.

In these cases the website is not accessible anymore ("The requested URL could not be retrieved"). I guess for this reason google does not rank the domain name domain.com anymore although it is still indexed.

Note that this is not the case for domains on godaddy auctions because they all have a custom "you can buy this domain" site!

Would you stay away from these domains or is it still good to go?

Do they show up on any page for domain.com or not?

Just to clarify, site:domain.com contains a few results?

    1) they don´t show on the first 10 pages for domain.com, maybe if I dig deeper
    2) site:domain.com contains a few results

I find that for a lot of domains when they are really down and don´t have a custom site like on godaddy.

Next question is does the homepage show up in site:domain.com?

If it does show up, then it suggests that it is penalised, if it doesn't, it just means it isn't indexed, which can happen if the domain has become offline, the inner pages may not have been re-crawled, and are therefore still indexed.

Thanks man! That is so logic but somebody has to tell you first.

The homepage does not show up when searching site:domain.com. So it is probably deindexed and just the innerpages which are not recrawled yet show up.

Next question: Is it a big problem when the home site is not indexed anymore? I mean, when inner sites are still indexed it should be quite easy to get home reindexed, right?

Of couse assuming that there is no penalty.

Check when it was dropped, but in theory it should be perfectly fine.
