Is there any money to be made in buying domains which related to products which have yet to be released (but in time should be valuable) and then selling the domains on immediately or would you need to build up the site and show there's an income stream first before anyone considers buying?

There may be, often affiliate want to buy exact match domains when products are first launched BUT you have to realize that companies can take your domains if you use their trademark in it. I have had domains taken due to using Amazon, YouTube and one other that I can't remember right now a few years back - it depends on how active the company is in this sort of thing. (example register pepsidrinks.com and Pepsi could take that if they wanted to). Many companies do not care at all but certain companies, the most active one I can think of off the top of my head being YouTube, seem to have dedicated staff or perhaps bots for this sole purpose.

Yeah I've read that it's a bad idea to use brand names etc in your URL . The domain I can get right now which I think could be valuable contains a brand name.

How do people promote branded products without using the brand name in the URL though? It's tricky to get round and I can't think of any ways round it.
