Hey guys, I was planning on starting a clothes business. In the country where I live, Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok, Calvin Klein, etc is pretty expensive. I want to buy NEW clothing (doesn't even have to be those brands but needs to be quality) and send it to my country and sell it here. I have a company that can send anything for about $1.25 per pound and minimum is 50 pounds. Where would I go about buying NEW clothing in the USA for, lets say, no more than $5? I'm talking about shirt, pants, shoes, accessories and hats. So if anyone has any ideas where I can buy new clothing cheap, let me know. Thanks.

You need to find out where this branded clothing is coming from, I'm sure half of this brands have factories in China or South Korea. Look for distributors nearby.

I live in the USA as well, I have a family member there who can buy clothes for me but I am looking for cheap clothing and I can't order it from China to where I live cause I'd get taxed a lot so it would have to be either from China to the USA and then from there to me.

It seems good that you are starting a new business. My suggestion is that you should outsource or manufacture the clothes in third world countries like Bangladesh because if I talk specifically about Banagadash then labor, land and especially electricity is available at cheap rates. On the other hand, government is also very cooperative with foreign investors.

Does it have to be brand new? Stores like Crossroads sell used (lower end) designer clothing dirt cheap.

You can get Ralph Lauren, Supreme, Akomplice, Nike, etc for $5-10

Are are starting to manufacture clothes or only start a business as a retailer? Cost efficiency and uniqueness will help you to be successful in U.S.

Don't think you will get quality new stuff for that price in US. As said about you probably need to look for distributors at source.

Having said that, you can get comparatively cheap clothes from a lot of retail outlets in the US- last time I was in Florida there were lots of people buying suitcases full of designer gear from these places so there must be a market for that stuff somewhere.

I think Nike,Puma,Adidas,Calvin Klein and most of the other brands are reasonably priced in most countries. But most of it comes from China so if you could find a supplier from there, you're gonna see some amazing profits.

Walmart offers cheap rates but it is a retailer not a supplier. You should contact some of supplier of Walmart, if you can't then find someone at Amazon or physical market.

If I'd you, I'd start messaging mid-eBay sellers and contact them about buying large quantities, that's can give you the heads up you need for the beginning.

Good luck and keep us updated!

My advice to you for the clothing business is this:

Create the demand for the merchandise first before having inventory. One of my friends had the mistake of ordering $100k in inventory only to find out that the clothing wasn't as "popular" as he expected.

Places like eBay sell clothing cheap and you can even get fake brand names that you can sell as real (how would they tell unless they know clothing quality?) if you want to go that route, but even by sticking to the safe side of things, clothing can work out pretty well. Just be prepared and make sure you have the right sizes, no use selling XXL shirts in Japan for example. Same as there is no use selling winter clothing in Hawaii. Make sure that there is high demand for whatever you sell.

You'll still get taxed even if you do that. Every product has a label of the country of origin on it for that reason. So if the goods are made in China then doesn't matter if they are coming through the US. The tariff will still apply.
