Buying a website to keep for 3-5K help

i dont see how thats spamming i dont think anyone is going to be upset about me posting 5 useless posts in my own thread...

don't be stupid and go to fillipa, traffic can be faked, page rank too, even alexa, not to say any payment proof, they guy which is selling may have got that "unnatural links" message from google and his site will drop in a week.

If you want to buy a site, search for sites on page 2, 3, for certain keywords, sites that look deserted and make an offer to the owner or In a year with 5K you can build 10 sites and you'll have more chances to make money.

If you spend 3-5k with no knowledge of IM on a website, you are a fool.

Register a domain for a few years = 20something
install wordpress
Start writing and learn about traffic building.

Save your money. You are looking to buy an instant business in a box, which they stopped selling those when time started.

As others have said, save your money. If I were you I'd put your money away and invest your time into learning more about IM. You will soon be parted with your cash and have nothing to show for it. IM isn't a get rich scheme. start off small. Do some keyword research, choose 5 relatively easy keywords to go after. Register 5 domains related to your keywords, get a cheap hosting plan. Install wordpress on each site, get yourself some content and read up on backlinking... All of which should cost you no more than $50 + $10 a month hosting.

Then once you have more knowledge invest the 3-5k you have.

I was about to say the same thing.

Make some basic sites of your own and find out what works and what doesn't for your skillset.

It is fine to say "buy something on page 2 and get it to page 1 to increase earnings", but if you don't have experience with ranking sites the you run the risk of the opposite happening as competitors overtake you.

Spend $100 on a page 2 site and get it to page 1 for practice. Once you have proven that you can rank the site then look to buy into the more expensive ones.

There is one side to IM I love - you dont need to invest more than $30 to get high revenues.

Buying a website is an art, and in most cases it ends with fiasco. Instead buying, start your own and learn.
If you're not experienced enough the competition will eat you, no matter your initial investment.

Thank you all for the advice. I already own a few domain names with hosting for 5 years. Should I just practice on those sites?

I would because you don't seem ready to buy sites at the moment.

OP, I advise you to take dotcomdesigns' advice. Since you have the funds you can build your own authority site from scratch with quality content and try to rank for as may keywords as possible. If you are totally new in this, you have to be ready to learn/educate yourself in how to make money from websites. For instance, this thread will provide you with material on how to build authority site.

If you insist on buying a site with the $500 you have, you can order in one of the BTB's service in this thread. Use extra money for SEO and extra articles.

As for flipping, BHW is privileged to have meathead who can offer your priceless information on buying websites.

Sky is the limit here in BHW and good luck in your endeavors.

Cheers,
ytterium

Get in contact with meathead, although I personally wouldn't go for Adsense.

I agree with the other posters here, learning it yourself is always best. But I also understand that sometimes people want an investment and someone to manage it. If I buy a piece of real estate, I would turn it over to a management company, so why would I not do that with a piece of online real estate if i could find and afford a good manager?

As for myself, I prefer to see the day to day things for myself, and it would drive me crazy for someone to be running my sites without my "help".

With your resources, you should be able to build a niche site and use paid traffic to make it profitable while you are setting the organic traffic hooks.

I think, its better to invest money in different business so that will better on return, weather its adsense or affiliate marketing..

It seems you want to be spoonfed for sometime. Do not expect that here and do not trust people straightaway at flippa also.
My 2 cents of sincere advice.
