I have a few choices, keep in my mind I'm not a techie AT ALL neither are any of my friends really so I'm kinda alone on this decision I've narrowed it down to these 2 choices:

    HP Pavillion dv7-6c20us for $769.99
    Specs:
AMD quad core A8-3520m accelerated processor
    750GB hard drive
    6144mb ddr3 sdram
    DVD optical drive
    windows 7
17'3 inch diagonal hd brightview les display

    Dell Inspiron i17RN-4235BK for $749.99
    Specs:
Intel Core i5-2450M Processor with Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.1GHz
    6GB memory
    500GB hard drive
    Intel HD Graphics 3000
    Windows 7
    17.3-inch HD+ WLED Display with TrueLife (1600 x 900)

I know they're probably overpriced, don't really care just want to know which one is better. I have to buy it at a particular store because I got credit not actual cash to go anywhere I want. Could not find an Acer, Asus or Toshiba with the specs or price range I want either so...

I would go with HP. I have an HP G71 laptop. 17 inch screen and I've been very happy with it. It does what I need it to do.

    • Intel Pentium Processor T4300 (2.10GHz, 1MB 12 cache, 800mHz FSB)
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • â—‹ 4GB DDR2 system memory
    • 320GB (7200rpm) hard drive
    • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+R/RW with Double Layer support
    • â—‹ 17.3 diagonal high-definition display
    • ntel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M graphics with up to 1695MB total available memory
    • â—‹ 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN
    • 3 USB 2.0 ports

Never had any problems with it. I hope this helps you.

    Dell M4600.

I got the M4500 only to find the M4600 released a few months later... dammit.
But I didn't regret it since I got it! Brilliant and awesome laptop!

If you want to be even more hardcore (and have the money), get the M6600. It is a WALKING desktop!

Personally I would choose the HP over the Dell. I like AMD processors and HP is very well built. Dell computers are meh. Usually their hardware can break easily and I just don't really like dells too much.

I would personally get the HP one, it has a much better graphics card than the other laptop that you listed.

I'd go with the Dell one because of the processor. Both graphic cards are integrated, so they are not great. But if you're not doing any heavy gaming, then it shouldn't be a problem. Plus if you really wanted the 750gb harddrive, just buy one, install it yourself, and then sell the 500gb one.

I have a HP G62 since almost 2 years and extremely happy with it, considering I'm using it like 12-15 hours each day! Some issues with battery but after 2 years it's nothing that I was not expecting.

This weekend going to get a new one (obviously HP as well) and after plenty of research I'll choose between: ProBook 6560b and ProBook 4730s. Difficult choice but maybe will help you as well. :)

Fujitsu is the best laptop I had ever seen. I am using a Fujitsu laptop for over 5 years. I bought that PC from Japan. A++ class product.

If you want a solid, strong, fast machine look at the Dell XPS line, also be ready to pay a little more for the name.

I've worked on dozens of computer and personally I choose Asus.

I have an asus G50-vt-x5 and it's only now starting to slow me down. Asus is launching their new lineup soon, G55 (15.6 inch model) and their G75 (17+ line).

Keep in mind that with a mac you will run into problems with commom I.M programs not being programmed for macs so you will have to be some-what tech savvy to install windows on the mac just to run the programs. Plus, you pay a lot for the name, and no, they are not virus proof.

    Just my .02

Don't buy a HP laptop. It sucks with overheating. Now i'm thinking to buy a Dell or Macbook pro.

I'd have to agree with this bloke. My past two HP laptops have had a tendency to overheat, and the fans get really noisy when you're working them too hard.

I'd opt for the Dell out of the two.
