Im thinking of possibly buying this forum/website off someone i know...

it has nothing to do with warez or anything computer related.

its actullay a maltese forum/site (not the dog, maltese) but the nationally.

its made so maltese people can come and have a gathering place and talk about the maltese heritage cause theirs no other site out their that has a forum for maltese.

now, heres my question... if i were to buy the site/forum would i be able to make money off it. i mean i suppose i would have to get alot of members first and all but could i make money if i brought this?

if so, how would i go about.

i tryed searching but didnt seem to find the right thing.

any help would be much appericated.

    thank you.

I could only see you doing adsense and affiliate links around the forum. You can also sell banner ads for a certain amount per month. I hear people talk about cookie stuffing but i have no experience with that at all.

you could cookie stuff, but the guy from DP has been sued doing that so it may be worth staying clear of for the time being.

sell advertising space, use adsense/words, good SEO to get a load of trafficc - im sure there are tourists who want to talk to people from there about some stuff so that could be an angle to look at etc.

build up the forum then sell it on? i wouldn't like the task though personally (due to no experience in IM or seo, or anything really!), but a few people on here will give you some serious direction!

Use the big G to search for forum owners. There are a couple of sites that cater to that niche and they're pretty generous about sharing the truths ---both good & bad --- about running a forum.

since it is about people of a certain nationality coming together, maybe you could make money out of local shops and traders who might want to place ads on your forum. but approaching each one and selling them ad space might take a lot of work....

Unless it becomes very popular don't expect to earn a lot from it, because a part from common heritage it is not targeted.

You would have to put in a lot more work to monetize it because you will have to provide heritage related products like Maltese music, Maltese spices, Maltese cloth & textures. Mainly tangible products.

It will be a lot more work, but if you have a plan of getting the community to flock to the forum in droves you will make money easily through advertisement.
