When purchasing freelancers or items from this source be sure to check first that the person is going to deliver. Even donors here could rip you off.

When you make a purchase for something PAYPAL will not allow you to claim back funds if the service is a non tangible.

In order to protect yourself from the 1% of traders who will take your money and never show up with the goods, make sure you instruct policy on a "what if" scenario.

I recently had a case here where a person said :

"You can raise a dispute with PAYPAL if you like, but I will tell them it is digital goods and you will still loose"

Basically speaking - if you pay for something non tangible you WILL loose your money as the con artists know the tricks.

    Always

a/ Agree to send money in advance and mark it as a tangible item

b/ If you dispute a sale, never agree with paypal if a person claims your dispute is for a digital service, always have something in writing from their paypal email that they will supply you with x boxes of Office Paper for example.

c/ Never purchase something and pay in advance however genuine the seller.

d/ if the above is not taken into account, never buy from someone who does not have a forum thread that they stand to (i) Loose or (II) Have you vilify.

e/ Someone who is a DONOR on this site does not mean you should trust them with your money.

Interesting PAYPAL issue I was completely not aware of and so this might be useful for you also... If its not tangible.. the money is gone the moment you send it.... FACT!

It's both side of the coin. You just need to be take necessary steps to be sure you are dealing with the right person.

Another thing is that if one always assumes everybody is a scammer, then online business would not be the right type of business to do.

Paypal do not FAVOUR THE BUYER. When the items are not tangible.

The user, who appears to be a good user of this site until he lost the ability to be fair and answer emails in a timely fashion - Will end up causing me more shit than the money I "donated" to him.

I emailed him to say I would post him in the shit list, and that I would report him to the mods. But he clearly doesn't give a shit.

Best for me not to cause myself more shit and respect that if he wants to be a thief, that is the path he is on. If I get any more shit, then I will of course retaliate.

Does only accepting m@ss payments prevent this?

I read on here that mass payments are not refundable.

NO PAYMENTS for NON TANGIBLES are refundable... I rang them. If you pay something to someone for "work" and not an "item" the money is gone the minute you send it.

The only issue you can do is keep the person waiting IE the money in escrow for 30 days... if the person states that the item was a NON TANGIBLE. then you loose. Its a shit paypal system but they said on the phone it is hard to prove when someone has not received a non tangible.

Well, I just been scammed today by a buyer :p

He filed for non-authorized dispute and he won the case today.

Paypal also has no protection for non-tangible items against sellers.
