Hi all

I have a website brandnamekeyword.com

The business is a cleaning company so travels to customers addresses to carry out their service. They have a physical location but this is just an office. This is out of town of the main 3 areas they serve.

The company covers loads of towns but there are 3 main ones, lets call them town1, town2, town3.

The company ranks for Cleaning company + town1 for the homepage in regular SERP and in the map pack.
The company ranks for Cleaning company + town 2 for the homepage in regular SERP and in the map pack.
The company ranks for Cleaning company + town 3 for a location page in regular SERP but not in the map pack.

The website has a number of web pages dedicated to specific services that the company offers. For example "Laundry service, Deep Cleaning, Bathroom cleaning" etc

The website ranks for Bathroom Cleaning + town 3 in the Map pack (but does not rank for the head keyword "Cleaning Company + town3" in the map pack.

Any ideas on why this might be, and how I can resolve this issue please?

Thanks

do you do onpage seo for the main keyword? try mention the keyword on your homepage and also when you submit to local listing or business directory, you can mention you do cleaning company.

OR there is 1 blackhat way that is still secure, you may include the main keyword along with ur company name into google business

example:
Cleaning Company company name

Yes i have a page dedicated to this location.

other areas shows up in the map pack but just this one town doesnt.

for the town not showing in map pack i have a location page dedicated to it with a sitewide footerlink pointing to the page (as i do with each location page)

The map packs have to do with the location of the searcher, right? Are you making the query from the right place?

Ok first. Your website is just a branding authority element to help Google decide who gets the listing after all the more important variables are considered. Google is your new home page. And remember, all these "+town" keywords are not relevant to much with local search because the best possible prospects live in the cleaning companies' trade area and are searching on their cell phones using main, non-geo keywords, and near me keywords of course. Geo-based keywords are for organic rankings and only because they are used to rank for canonical searches, not GPS. The proper Local SEO strategy (which has led to not losing one client in the past 3 years on this system) is as follows:
1. Optimize your GMB (let me know if you need a template for this but complete your Google Profile as much as possible and keep it updated)
2. Post regularly (at least 10 to 25x a month)
3. Google loves photos (have your client take photos each week and upload them so you can post them}. Don't use Geo Coded photos or software as Google scrubs these photos when submitted and not a good use of your time.
4. Run a GEO grid on your client's trade for the main keywords. Use Google keyword planner for your local city and focus on money keywords with high searches. The only people searching using keyword + geo are living outside the trade area and not the main focus of customers for most local businesses.
5. After you identify who is ranking on the maps the most for your client's entire trade area, reverse engineer the basic metrics including total directories, average posts per month, total reviews, and avg per month. There is free software that gets you these and services of course. Put everything on a Google sheet and that becomes your SEO worklist.
6. Google second most important variable is relevance. So, if possible, change the GMB title to include your category or highest searched keyword. (example: John Smith DDS turns to John Smith Dentistry (City). If you cannot get approval for this it just makes your job a little harder, so be it.
7. And you're most important. Use GMB CTR manipulation from mobile (never residential) proxies and local cities. This needs to run monthly as Google has Click Thru Rate (CTR) as the primary indicator for awarding more searches in their many patents. The key is to take a natural approach and remember not to use bots from local desktops, residential proxies, from cities nowhere near the actual location. Don't use a bot that also does websites, Youtube, etc. as it is not natural traffic and can easily be seen on Google analytics by you, Google, and your client if they look hard enough. Use CTR designed for the GMB with 4G mobile proxies and local cities from random mobile devices. This will be your best success in improving map pack rankings, showing the traffic for top keywords, and keeping accounts long-term. Google will see the traffic and reward with more map pack listings. This has been our number one best tool for helping clients get top rankings locally and more business from Google for it. If you need a reference for a good GMB CTR service just reply back. Hope this helps.

Yes. There is a service that does mapping for each keyword and GMB ctr. It is now available on Legiit this month. I have been using this for 2 years but the best price is here. Here is the link. PS. don't go with any service that uses a desktop bot or residential proxies. 4G mobile from local cities is what's natural.
