I am working on setting up GPlaces listing, and listings on other biz directories for a lawyer and have some questions.

She is a lawyer that works for XYZ Law LLC. I have made her a gPlace listing using that address but using her own exact match domain name say "CorporateLawMyCity.com" as the business name.

I know google and the other Search Engines like citations to be the same where ever they are found.

    So here are my questions:

    1. On the gplaces listing should I title the listing "CorporateLawMyCity.com" or use the lawyers name as the business name?

    2. When making citations on other law-based directories and regular biz directories, is it better to use "CorporateLawMyCity.com" as her firm/biz name or her actual name?

    3. If I use her actual law firms address as her address, would this mess with her law firm's listings? Especially on GPlaces?

Thank you all for any help!

I'll address the first issue I see,yes using 2 identical addresses can cause issues, not always but a point to bear in mind.
Regarding the name ,thats your choice but all citations must have the exact same information e.g name and address. The "corporatelawnewyork" (example) name e.g corporate law new york would be a preferred name, you'd better check no firm in your city is actually called that first of all.
One problem might be some directories might have categories call corporate law new york. It'll give you a head start for sure in the google places BUT places changes quite often now and some categories such as lawyers are spammed with those type of names.I'd ask the client, that way you're not responsible.Think about it you're dealing with a corporate lawyer! I'd play safe and let them tell me what they want to be called.

    This is your answer:

Pugh Barrett Canale Leslie Llc: Barrett John

Google Places will allow you to have the name of the firm followed by a colon and the name of the professional. It could be a doctor, cpa, lawyer, etc.

This must then be your same title for all citations.

You can then also use your personalized url for your client.

If you proceed with your method, you are likely to never see your listing or the citations merge with the listing itself.

Be sure to heavily populate the citations and backlink them prior publishing the gplaces listing.

Thanks but that name was just an example - it's a lawyer but not a corporate lawyer. Thanks for the help

The law firm she works for already has a GPlaces listing but none of the lawyers have separate GPlaces listings yet (pretty new firm).

She may not want to stay at that law firm forever and start her own. I have a EMD for "X-typeLawMyCity.com. Would it be better to use this now and build it up over the next few years so when she is on her own, she can just keep using that as her business name(she is family - I will take care of her as long as she wants me to) OR would it be better to use her current law firms name like you showed in this example?

I am not sure what you mean here: are you saying I might not see the Gplaces listing at all? Based on my experience I will see the listing as soon as the postcard arrives and I put the pin number in the listing.

As I said, I already understand that the citations need to be exactly the same. Is that what you meant? I am confused.

Is this really that important to do it only PRIOR to the listing? It takes 2-3 weeks just to get the postcard.(phone verify option is gone) and I already have the postcard on the way.

My main question still is whether to use just her name, the EMD name or her current law firm?

Again guys THANK YOU SO MUCH for the help!

    1. I would get all the lawyers to have their own places listing as in the example I showed.
    2. I have no idea what "EMD" is supposed to represent
    3. You will not see the Gplaces listing in the box for the keywords you want.
    4. If the post card is on the way, then the point is mute. If it were me, I would be building and backlinking those citations like a mad man until the pin arrives.
    5. Your main question has been answered. Exact name of the firm: last name first name (it's the only accepted format for multiple professionals at one location.)

Just so we are clear here - at least at this point, I am only working for her - NOT the firm or any of it's lawyers - JUST HER.

    Exact Match Domain Name

Still confused here: What exactly would specifically keep me from ranking for these keywords?

You are still missing my MAIN point - I AM NOT WORKING FOR HER CURRENT FIRM. SO: My main question still is whether to use just her name, the Exact Match Domain name(CorpLawMyCity.com) or her current law firm?

    and thanks again.

You are still missing my MAIN point: There is only ONE WAY TO LIST YOUR SISTER AS A LAWYER WITH HER PRESENT FIRM.
