I remember being a kid, and bullies have ALWAYS existed. When I told my dad I was getting messed with at school, or even in my neighborhood - "When he's calling you names, just walk away. When he hits you...you knock him to the floor. He won't do it again." He shared a story with me about a group of kids who messed with him because of his weight (large) and to "even the odds" he grabbed a steel pipe that was nearby. You guess the rest. Todays kids are so coddled that it begs to question "are bullies truly worse, or is the generation of 'Tell An Adult' bullshit ads on TV causing kids to allow bullies to harm them" convinced defending yourself is bad, while the bully breaks the rules anyway. I'm not saying become a bully - stopping someone from harming you is not bullying. That's like saying because Hitler breathed oxygen and we ALL breathe oxygen, we're all bad. I'm just seeing the same preachings about standing up and telling someone. Fuck telling someone who can't legally punch the kid(s) because violence isn't the answer. You only learn fire hurts after it burns you. Just my opinion.
