Building Web 2.0 sites/blogs - A list of currently working ones

I got a bid fed up finding lists of web 2.0 blog/site networks and finding they are closed or not accepting new members. So I went through a huge list of over 100 and found that only these ones are currently live and open for new registrations. Hopefully this list will help some of you :)

Helpful for some, but Google is punishing web 2.0 sites all the time. Unless you are building tiered links or ranking them as parasites, you might as well just focus on other sources of backlinks.

Are they punishing all or just low quality that they can spot as fake? There is alot of other things that have been claimed as no longer working but with those things it was the low quality spam content that was deindexed/penalized.

But wouldn't links be better than no links at all?

Is that all site working, to my knowledge squidoo not working anymore.

Also i already automated most of the site you mentioned in the list in my s/w SEWarrior. I think few not in list like inube.com. If its working i will add that also to s/w.

Squidoo, I left as you can still use it from hubpages and people recognise squidoo.

In terms of other platforms, like boosites as someone pointed out above. Its not just about links NOW, its about finding stable platforms, even new ones, so the links last. I tend to use paid platforms more now as so much work has been lost when the free sites go under with the weight.

As for the "Google is punishing Web 2.0 sites all the time". I am not sure what that means when the examples are facebook and things like ezine articles. The sites I use allow you to create a subdomain account mostly, so piggybacking the main domain is pretty irrelevant as on creation your ranking and trust is a big fat zero, regardless of the trust of the main domain from what I have seen. That's why I also ignore the "High PR" claims, when a newly created sub domain has zero PR and will get zero PR from the main domain anyway.

My view is a link profile should be varied, you should not assume a high PR root will pass trust to a subdomain, and that investing in a long term strategy is key :)


I'm testing a few more so will update this post with a bigger list soon.

These are very useful list for me. I am just starting to create web 2.0 today. I won't go and find Google. I know BHW members share their knowledge. I am going check and make use of it from those list. Thanks.

With regards to HubPages you really need to have the writing spot on. A lot of people will throw together an article or buy on off of here, throw it up onto HP and expect it to rank.
The thing is, these Hubs undergo a manual review now. This means that they might not even publish your Hub (so you've wasted your $2 on the 'native' writer), and if they do publish it, you still run the risk of getting a n0follow link so as a whole, the link is as useful as tits on a nun.
