Building Links to a third party forum post?

Hi,

I did a little bit of a test yesterday with a low search term i found on googles keyword planner and a popular forum. What i did is put the keyword in the title of my forum post and also in the description. I posted it and left it for a day and i've just checked now and i am ranking for the keyword on the second page of google in 17th posistion. Now i know this is not ground breaking by means but i wanted to ask is there any way i can do any link building to the forum post i made and push it up in the serps?, bearing in mind that i don't actually own the forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the post don't have risk to be deleted any time soon, wasting your effort?

Find some related sites, leave some comments with links pointing to your post? If the forum itself is super popular, maybe it can withstand seo blasting like it's 2004.
