    AMAZON AFFILIATE JOURNEY

    The Setup:
I've already purchase a domain name, a premium theme, & a widget to import amazon products into my store with ease. I had a frustrating time setting up certain parts of the theme. I would breeze through setting up all the categories, then I would come across a responsive issue that took me a whole day to solve. In fact, i'm still working with the dev's of the theme to fix some other issues. However, the site is still beautiful and functional none.

    Expenses-
    [$42] - premium theme
    [
    $40] - amazon affiliate plug-in
    [
    $10/mo] - hosting

    Progress Made-
    - I have imported about 1k products across 6 main categories and about 24 total subcategories (yes, wide variety of products) this is good because it's a medium competition niche & there are plenty of good comparision articles I can write.

    - Aged instagram account tied to the domain
    - around 4.2k followers
    - 55k impressions weekly
    - 3.6k reached weekly
    - 1k profile views weekly
    - 2 website clicks LMAO (i just added link in bio a few days ago, no promo posts yet)

    - 2 articles published: 1 around 3.2k words & 1 around 2k words targeting maybe 10-15 keywords
*if anyone has a good way of keeping track of keywords and you're rankings pls let me know, right now I only have google analytics and I still have a hard time figuring out how to read the data*

on the articles, I have a lot of the content written, I just need to structure it a little nicer and add comparison tables, pro's vs. con's & plenty of links back to amazon. Right now they are kind of just plain articles.

    Summary of progress:
    [x] - create website & attach domain/host
    [x] - configure layout(categories & menu)
[x] - import (5-100) products into each category (1k total products)
    [x] - create 2 articles with
green lights on readability and SEO through yoast
    [x] - social media page(IG) increasing (4.2k followers)

    To-Do:
[] - enable UK affiliate sales (IG reporting over 30% of my followers are in the UK)
    [] - structure current articles better (tables/buttons/charts)
[] - write at least 2 articles per week
[] - figure out how to get back links & traffic

For keyword rank tracking I can recommend Serplab (serplab.co.uk). It has a free subscription that offers daily updates for 50 keywords. However, with a paid serp bot (thats how they call them and they're 5$ a month) you get more updates. You can check 600 ranking positions/24h and update as often as you want. With a paid subscription you get information about the search volume too.

Anyway, good luck with your journey and I'll folllw you closely :)

Btw the header of this journey thread and the overall design is beautiful :D

I was just yesterday searching on Google for amazon affiliates...
I don't like that they don't have PayPal as a option. Only checks. Bad.

    Anyways, good luck to you!

Interesting, good luck! You might as well pick up some clicks from organic by ranking for extremely low search volume terms

    Back with an update.
**remember amazon sites like this (especially fresh domain) will take AT LEAST a few weeks/+month to pick up traction organically. I'm working hard to speed things up. I'm still learning too:)***

I will try my best to post daily updates even if I don't do much on the site

Thankyou for the compliments, I checked out serplab, but I was trying to find the program that was used in this screenshot [IMG]
seems like a cleaner interface than serplab. If anyone knows, drop a comment for a thumbs up:)

I started the instagram account back in march when I originally wanted to build a dropshipping site in the niche. I was building the site on shopify in the middle of finals for college and just lost interest. Now that it's summer, I changed to a wordpress platform and decided to make an amazon affiliate store. Plus I have waaaay more time now to spend making content and working on this project. I'm gaining around 20-30 followers a day. I'll mess with the targeting more this week to see if I can boost it up to 50-100 followers a day.

Definitely! I have a ton of keywords that are getting between 250-2.5k searches in the serps that I'm writing some good articles for. Those should definitely rank in the future. I have 2 articles published that need to be polished(more products and buttons linking back to amazon). I'm going to wait until I hit 5 CLEAN and properly created articles before doing any type of external marketing on the site. Still working on the whole back link situation since it's a little foreign to me right now.

Yup, just read through the above comments:) I have another project I'm working on as well, but stick around for later today when I finish up another article or two:) & do some research on what I will do next to help get this site off the ground

    SEE YOU SOON

Yes, I vouch for serplab too, cost effective rank tracking solutions. I wish others charged similarly.

What was your initial drop shipping idea, if you don't mind me asking?

I was looking at products on Ali express that were selling for cheap. I built a Shopify site to sell those same products at a higher price. So whenever I got an order through the site, I would dropship it and make profit. I didn't realize the amount of work it took to get it to take off and didn't want to pay Shopify $30 a month to maintain a site making $0 so I scrapped it.
(Lack of effort, patience & time)

Two ways of making it work. Work hard or work smart. I didn't really have the experience or the money to do paid ads & the products I was trying to sell wasn't really a good choice.

There's a few good threads in the money making section on dropshipping. Go scoop around, you'll find them if you look hard enough.

Been through the dropshipping thing before and not my thing, especially shopify. I always use WordPress because i have reseller hosting i dont sell, so might as well use it.

Amazon was going to be my next venture, after getting some services in the marketplace. Good luck on your journey!
