Introduction: I am currently 18 years old and having literally (8 hours ago) just finished my first year at university I am ready to put my plan in to action. I have a month before I return home to work on this full time, along with end of exam parties! The plan: The plan is to create a branded website powered by social media. In the past I have tried this however I have always started with the website and tried to grow the social side from that. In this case I will be growing the social side first and then expanding to a website after. The aim of this journey is to create a blueprint that I can then replicate and scale up so that I can create a network of what I call micro-brands. I have therefore already chosen a niche that I know people are passionate from personal experience. Potential of 50,000+ fans. I have registered the domain name to my brand. For this experiment I will exclusively be targeting the UK. Growth Strategy: Start a Facebook page and use Facebook ads to promote it to 1000 likes. Once it reaches 1000 likes stop advertising and grow aim to grow organically. At the moment I am currently spending £3-5 a day on advertising. Once I have enough money to buy a twitter bot I will use it to promote the brand on Twitter. Traffic Strategy: Traffic will mainly come from posts to the Facebook page. I may try to target certain keywords and build the website up in the search engines however this is not my priority. Content Strategy: The first type of content will be social media posts that will be images/videos/etc. These will be posted about 3-4 times a day. The second type of content is the content for the website, these will be articles aimed to be easy to read and great to share, for example list articles. Monetisation Strategy: At 1000 likes launch the website which will use AdSense. At 1500+ likes launch a Teespring campaign. Other opportunities for monetisation are Amazon and Cafepress/Zazzle. Big Picture: The big picture goal for this project is to create a blueprint that can be replicated and scaled up. I see Tee-spring being the main source of income and in the long term I would like to earn £1000 a month (while I’m still at Uni). Say that I create one Teespring campaign per month per brand and earn £5 profit per t-shirt, which means I will need to sell 200 t-shirts a month. This could come from five brands selling 40 t-shirts or twenty brands selling 10 t-shirts. Progress: Facebook fans: 454 Website hits: N/A AdSense revenue: N/A Feel free to ask any questions below.
