Building a new site. Need help

I am building a new site but am unsure of how to choose a niche market. I don't want just adsense but also an affliate program. How do you guys choose niches???

I seek out the affiliate programs first...then I take what I find, and build a site around it.

I look for a niche with main keywords that are REALLY popular, and similar keywords that are still popular with very little competition because everyone is funneling their money in the HUGE keyword.

Method I use is a little different from bizzy's.

1. Research a few niche markets for real ' buyer ' traffic and profitting cashflow, ( this make sure there is money there and not bot traffic ).

2. Research the products and services in those respected niches and check out how well they are doing in sales. You can track the hottest products/services through google trends and the like, ( this is to see which products and services people are actually buying in those given niches ).

3. Only promote to the niches that have the people that are buying, targetting those keywords...and the products/services are targetted for the niche that would be looking for those products.

This works with affiliate or original products/services. It's common sense, really. This is a little more details version of the classic ' find out what people want, make/get whatever it is as a product or service and offer it to them for a fee.

try using keywords.. think of a genre, use the keywords.. goto that niche via the top keyword..

Choose something you like, or have a passion for. This way you will be interested in the topic to update the site daily. Don't build sites just to make money. Build it because you have a passion for that topic, and once you have decent traffic daily. Then monitize!! $$

If you are a member of NBA (never blue ads... now called just "Never Blue") look for high network performance as these offers are obviously better to use and more likelyy to yield profits. When choosing a niche look for something that people have a genuine need for...

Take for example "Dog food" ... Everyone who has a dog genuinely needs dog food right? YES. So what you could do is build a microsite offering dog food reviews and then offering them your "personal opinion" on what's best... If you have a dog you could even record it eating that food "or a similar enough looking one" to make it real convincing.... Of course now offer your affiliate link for things like dog food coupons, dog toys, and every other possible thing a dog owner could possibly give to their dog... Just mix in the links with some reviews like "Oh, my dog just loves this toy... I bought it online HERE(link).

Hope this helps.... I don't know off hand if this (dog food) is a good niche but, you should hopefully get the general idea about what to do and how to do it.

What I like to do is look at my affiliate list and I'll see a problem people have and what products are helping to fix it...EG: If there's an offer for less snoring for your partner, make a site about how to get a better sleep. I then take a keyword like snoring for example and put it into Google's AdWords tool. That outputs a bunch of related keywords. Try to find a longtail keyword out of this.

So you see one with search volumes 1000-3000, search that exact phrase into google...if there's less than or around 1 million total results, put this infront of your search - "allintitle:" and if there is less than 1,000 results for that, then go for that niche!

Choose something (niche) you know a lot about, but which is not popular with other marketers but is popular with buyers (or what people are looking for).
