Do people still check their emails? I feel like everyone moved to Facebook/Twitter/Cellphones... Anyone still doing a list? Worth it? Anything better then an email list, or an alternative?

If you don't build a list, you're leaving money on the table. Period!

If there's ONE thing, ONE very thing that will continue working unless a super massive change happens to the smtp/email protocol (never take anything for granted, the shockwave of DNT depending on how it's ratified might spread well beyond the http protocol and how "free" services are intended...) that's bulk mailing a targeted list with what they want. Maybe a list that will see you as a mentor or someone reputable enough to listen to when it comes to spending the hard earned buck... It's very similar similar to why you get your real mail box clogged with ads: it simply works and there's also no foreseeable reason why it shouldn't.

In my experience and opinion an actual email list is still very much worth it. Obviously the quality is important. Best is self attained thru squeeze pages and self motivated. Do not bombard them with stupid ads and spam. Same on FB/Twitter, even lists on there can't and shouldn't be spammed to death.

here is sample campaigns I ran today and in last three days because my CPA went down so I needed to compensate earnings (yes these are small lists (few thousand) but highly targeted and specific msg. I never over blow my lists. I have hundreds of thousands opt in, but the best lists to me are small lists I worked hard on developing thru direct mail, offline and PPC.
