TLRD: Messed up first journey, now I'll start again with authority sites that are somewhat related to each other and a niche viral site to connect the two. I want to create a rabbit hole of content consumption and have people spend as much time on my sites as possible. Basically I want to own a media sphere of a certain group of people and become important in their media diet. Oh I also will pick up writing erotica again. I'll update this threat as much as I can, preferably daily but time is valuable so I might skip a few days in favor of writing content for the sites.

So Some of you might have seen my last journey. (For those who haven't, here it is) I'll have to admit that journey was a big fancy flop filled with hypothetical bullshit. I was getting results on social media and my Twitter accounts were dominating in the adult twitter game but it never really translated in a paycheck. So at a certain point, I pulled the plug out of my Twitter empire and deleted all accounts because the effort I put into it just didn't pay off and it was taking too much of my valuable time. I'm sorry for the overhyped journey, I was selling a lot of air and it wasn't really a valuable journey for others to follow. I mean it was basically me showing screenshots of my Twitter account and being like "brah I make a lot of impressions and I won't tell how lol".

Not only did managing social media burn me out, it also felt immoral to be stealing content from sex workers for my own gains (even though I didn't gain a lot). I still regret deleting a page that generated 20 million impressions for free on Twitter but hell, it happened, it's in the past.

What I learned from the journey.

So what am I going to do now? Well if there is one thing I learned from my former journey it's that social media is fun but it isn't my strong suit. My strength lies in writing and I really enjoyed the writing part where I wrote erotic stories and redirected my social following to those stories. So I'm picking up the writing again and I'll need social media to build traffic but I'll do it differently this time.

I've decided to start this journey to keep myself accountable and hopefully inspire people to make their own dreams come true. I know for a fact that owning a media empire has been my dream ever since I was 14 so now is the time to make that come true.

The Blueprint for my Digital Publishing Empire.
So here is the big scheme: Writing 50,000 words a week (could have done more but I also need time to edit my writings). 20,000 of these words will be for the erotica project that I'll be relaunching and the other 30,000 words will be for my two authority sites and an overbridging viral site.

2 Authority sites and a viral site explained.
Some of you might be wondering, but Night, Why the fuck would you juggle 4 sites when you can't even have 1 site be successful? Well allow me to explain. This Media Empire has two sides, an NSFW side with the erotica site and an SFW side with two authority sites and an overbridging viral site. The Erotica site is something I do because writing erotica has become natural to me. I can easily pump out a 10K story in less than 2 days and I enjoy doing it so if everything else fails I'll at least have something I'm good at.

Now for the SFW side, both authority sites are in somewhat relatable niches but distinct enough to be on separate sites. I'll illustrate it with an example: Let's say that site 1 is Oprah's Book Club and Site 2 is Vegan recipe site Forks Over Knives (in my plan the two sites are way closer but I couldn't think of a good example without revealing my niches lol). In both cases, it's very likely that the audiences of both sites are left-leaning or liberals at the least.

By using recommendation widgets on both authority sites to promote my viral site (which will cover both topics and related topics) I'll draw audiences from both sites to the viral site which I intend to make sticky as hell with quizzes, listicles and everything in between. It will also link to the authority sites when a listicle or quiz mentions a topic that I have an article about on the authority site.

This way I hope to design a trinity of websites linking to each other so people never really leave the sphere of my sites and increase my pageviews and ad impressions.

Just to be clear none of the sites I'm making will be related to the topics mentioned in the example. It's just the first example that popped up in my mind lol.

Erotica Site (Not Active, Planned for Q1, 2021)
As I mentioned earlier, I really enjoyed writing erotica and many people also gave me great feedback, they loved the content I was making and what did I do with that? I completely ignored the chances of building a fanbase on my own platform and instead accumulated it on Twitter which I didn't control and couldn't monetize. So what I am doing differently this time is that I'll emphasize on getting readers to register and become returning readers. To achieve this I'll buy a Theme that looks like Medium.com in its design and functionalities. When a reader signs up they get to choose categories to subscribe to which gives me valuable insights into what readers want. By subscribing to those categories the reader will be given a personalized feed of stories just like you'd have on Medium.com.

The reason I haven't bought the theme yet and haven't launched the site yet (did register the domain though) is that I first want a content library of 300k Words before I launch. That way I'll have enough content for people to be interested in registering and I'll have enough content on hands to drip feed in times when I can't write as much as I can now. As for now the site is projected to launch in 2021 and I have 24,000 words ready for publishing. I also have a bunch of stories from the last site that I'll probably recycle depending on how good it is.

How I'll monetize this site:
Tailored Affiliate Ads based on category (gay ads for gay stories, incest ads for incest stories etc.) and E-books with the longer stories. Lets say one story with 3 chapters is doing extremely well I could just put the other chapters into an e-book and sell it for 2,99$ on Amazon or Smashwords. It's kind of a messy freemium model but as long as my site is small I can't really risk going for subscriptions because payment processors are a real bitch when it comes to adult stuff. (PayPal recently stopped working with Pornhub, so that's the state of payment processors and adult stuff).

Authority Site #1 (Not Active, Planned for Q4, 2020)
Authority Site #1 is in a fairly untouched niche with lots of Web 1.0 dinosaurs dominating the SERP despite having 600K in search volume if you combine all keywords. Half of the sites aren't even mobile-friendly. There is only 1 site that regularly updates and is modern so that's a bummer but if I create better content I'll have a shot at outranking them. This is in a niche in which I have a lot of interest and which I've read a lot about, the only downside being that I haven't written about it a lot so that's something I have to learn along the way but I believe it's possible. I want this site to have around 100K words by the start of Q1 in 2021. It's a fairly informative niche which means there isn't a lot of buyer intent but I am a strong believer in Display Ads despite critics saying it's dead. FatStacksBlog is a site by a Display Ads publisher who writes lots of informative content and brings in about 40k through Display ads every month, I'd definitely recommend checking his site out. For this site, I won't be using social media because social media takes time and it just isn't worth it for now.

I currently have only 1 article finished for this site, about 1400 words but plenty of keywords in my excel sheet to work with.

Why do I make this site?
Because the niche deserves a better website, it's 2020 goddamnit and people deserve getting their information on a website that responds to their device. Also once the majority of the articles is written it will be very low maintenance, it's not really a niche where constant fresh content is needed to stay ahead.

How I'll monetize this site:
- Display Ads, I'll start out with Adsense and once I hit 30k pageviews a month I'll either go with Ezoic or Mediavine, probably Ezoic.
- Affiliate Links, there isn't a lot of buyer intent but there are products I could push from Amazon so I'll definitely make some buying posts.

Authority Site #2 (Not Active, Planned for Q4, 2020)
Authority Site #2 has some competition but isn't as big a potential as Authority site #1. It has a combined search volume of about 30K but has far more buyer intention which makes it interesting. It is also related to my current field of study (I'm in Uni) which makes it a lot easier to write about because the topics I'll cover are topics I literally have to know about if I want to get my goddamn degree. However, I'll also give it a bit of a personal twist with personal product recommendations and I'll tie some fashion into it as well. The personal twist will make it more relatable to Authority site #1.

I currently have a dozen of notes and summaries that I wrote myself and helped me pass my exams. All I have to do is edit them to make them suitable for the site and I have to start writing some personal product recommendations and fashion stuff.

Why do I make this site?
Because I study the field it covers and it's practically a place where I share my summaries and notes so it has a double function / motivation.

How I'll monetize this site:
- Display Ads, same story as with Authority site #1.
- E-Books and courses in a later stage to help a student of my field pass a test. "Got an exam tomorrow? For only 19,99$ you'll smash your xxx exam with this crash course". Something along these lines.

Viral Site to Connect the sites. (Not Active, Planned for Q2, 2021)
The Viral Site is going to be the bread and butter of the network connecting both authority sites. What I'm hoping for is that when a Student on Authority Site #2 has found what they're looking for clicks on a related viral article through the recommendation bar on Authority site #1 and goes into a rabbit hole of content consumption. The same goes for Authority site #1. I'm expecting Authority site #1 will bring in more readers not only in terms of higher traffic but also because the majority of the content will be more focused on Authority site #1 but Authority site 2 will still play an important role. This site will have listicles, quizzes, news related to both niches.

Why do I make this site?
I wanna blow off some steam with easy to write listicles and quizzes and lure in readers from my authority sites who want to blow off some steam as well. Basically see it as a Taboola / Outbrain widget under my authority site articles but instead of redirecting traffic to poorly written scam sites I'll redirect them to my viral site to get even more page views.

How I'll monetise this site:

Display ads obviously. Might as well throw in some product recommendations for products that wouldn't fit on the authority sites but still are likely to be bought by audiences of both sites.

What I've done so far.
In the past month I've written about 27000 words. Mainly for the erotica project but also for the authority sites. Should have been tripple that wordcount because I was doing very well with my daily wordcount but suddenly Mother nature decided that a heatwave would be fun in Europe and I was unable to concentrate on writing with temperatures of 30°C being the norm for 10 fucking days. At the moment of writing it is nearly midnight so I'm going to close my laptop and get some sleep so I can rise early and write content again in the morning.

WIsh me luck on this crazy ambitious journey!

I feel like this will be one heck of a ride. I'll definitely be following your thread! Good luck

Update Day 1: 4609 words. (Aimed for 7200 but welp).

First update of the journey! First of all, I wanna thank you guys for the encouraging comments on this journey. Comments like yours are like extra fuel to the burning motivation I have. Speaking of burning, the weather suddenly decided to get hot today so that was a huge bummer. I got most of the writing done in the morning but I also managed to get some done in the afternoon.

Normally I'd still go on but tonight is Friday night and that means Dungeons & Dragons with the lads. I don't care whatever shitty guru's say, you should take time to hang out with friends, the hustle will always be there, friends won't if you ignore them.

Anyway, I decided to also add screenshots of my writing tracking sheets. They're messy, some days I just skipped, The first two screenshots are from last month (July 15 - August 14). The last one is from today. I swear I saved a separate sheet for my SFW work but can't find it anywhere so that's a bummer.

Today I wrote 1346 words for Authority site #2 and 3263 words for the Erotica project. I also wrote about 1200 words for my personal journal but I won't count that for this journey. I like journaling because it helps me clear my head before I head into any other writing.

For those wondering, WPH means Words Per Hour, I've noticed that my WPH drops when I'm writing for authority sites because it's more serious and less passionate so that's something I gotta work on. I guess it will get better once I continue writing long enough.

I spread my writing sprints over the day, starting around 8 in the morning and most sprints lasted 15 minutes each because I feel like that's how long I can write focused without affecting quality. I hope that by a week or two I can be back at my old 30 minutes sprints but we'll see.

Update Day 2: 2234 words (bad day)

So obviously today wasn't a great day for writing, despite the weather being quite normal, I just couldn't focus all day. I fell asleep again after my alarm went off around 7 and only woke up around 12 again, oops. I did try to write immediately after a brunch but I hit a writer's block after 200 words. Afterward, I picked up my phone for some Youtube and fell into the content consumption rabbit hole that I was supposed to create today, not consume. Anyway, no hard feelings, shit happens.

Around 8 pm I decided that focus or no focus, I want to create a media EMPIRE not just your average content website earning me a few 100's a month, nope, an Empire. I want to have a media company that makes pasty old white guys at the headquarters of Disney, Hearst and Buzzfeed crap their pants and I'm not gonna get there if I don't get my head up and write.

So yeah, realizing I was stuck on a plot hole in my novel and not feeling anything for writing for my authority sites I decided to just start a new erotic story in an entirely different niche (one that I'm familiar with though and seasoned in so that made it easier to write). In about 40 minutes I managed to pump out 2000 words of erotica, not even close to the amount I was supposed to write today (considering that I didn't hit the 7200 yesterday either) but hell, doing something is better than doing nothing.

To end on a positive note, I am really tired right now so I should be able to sleep well and rise fresh in the morning to write content like there is no tomorrow.

I also have some questions for my fellow (prolific) content writers:

- How do you edit when you're working with high volumes of writing on a daily basis? Do you edit in the evening? The morning the next day? Or do you save it all for the weekend or something?
- How do you plan your research? Do you just skim competitive articles before you dive into writing? Extensive research on a specific day? I'm thinking of designating one day for doing research in the week or to plan research in the morning so I can let the information sink into my head for a few hours and then writing in the afternoon/evening.

I've started pumping out content since two weeks ago. What gets me going for hours straight is putting on some filthy techno mix which helps me put in full focus.

Next to that I use a Trello.com board to plan everything out. The evening before I go to work I drag articles I want to finish the next day into the column, and I don't leave the office until I'm done. :) Hope this helps and keep it up!

Edit: I write only about stuff I know a lot about, so there's not really need for research for me

Hmm yeah I don't work well with music, I require silence to write, although Ambient sounds have worked in the past so might give that a shot again.

Definitely gonna try Trello if it's free, I really like your idea of picking out tasks the night before.

Regarding research, the niche I cover I know a lot about but it's also very factual and specific and I don't always remember numbers or statements by researchers so that's why I need time to get facts straight, I just feel unprepared if I don't research beforehand. Although now that I think about it, I might as well pull the article out of my ass based on what I think is right and correct things when I'm editing. That might save some time.

Update Day 3: 199 words.
Fucked up massively today but hell it's okay, this isn't a journey to show off to others how well I write or how amazing I am, this is for solely for me and if others pick up something from it that's great. Also, I frankly never expected to immediately hit 50,000 words a week from day 1. This is just a temporary setback and what is important is that I learn from my mistakes rather than sulk in them and feel bad. Negative thinking has never made things better.

So what did I learn?
- I gotta eat more frequently, like shit, for some reason I just keep distracting myself with videogames and Youtube (all though I did learn a lot about the American Revolution I guess, considering I binge-watched Oversimplified)
- I need to learn: No tech in the morning and evening because they'll easily distract me, obviously I'll need my laptop to write but I'll just turn off the wi-fi from now on.
- Just sitting down and telling yourself to write for just 5 minutes is a great thing, normally it will cause me to write even more but today I waited till 10pm to do so and I was having a major headache so I only wrote for 5 minutes.

Either way, that's for today, it's okay that I failed today, shit happens. I mean frankly in the past 3 days I've written nearly 7000 words which is more than I'd usually do when I didn't have a focused plan to build my media empire.

Tomorrow I'll be leaving for a holiday with friends, maybe that's the reset I need. Silly games, Alcohol, Weed and Sex sounds like a perfect retreat to replenish my creativity and get some ideas. I'll be taking my laptop with me so I might or might not get some writing / editing done, not gonna force anything, this is my last week for uni starts and I need to relax at least once before that shit show goes on again.

Day 4: 378 words.
Despite being on holiday I still got some writing done, the gang was a bit too high to be doing anything active and my weed tolerance is a bit higher I guess so I just grabbed my laptop, sat down and wrote an additional 378 to my second novel (currently about 2500 into it) because frankly, I'm having a major writer's block in the first novel (currently about 28000 words). Either way, time to get fucked up again. This might end in a threesome if I'm lucky, it's gonna be a good inspiration for a new story ;)

Did you get the threesome?

Nah the third person had to puke and wasn't feeling too well, so we carried them to bed and checked every half an hour if they were still doing okay. This was the first time they actually went on a vacation with my group and we started the night with a shot of Stroh 80 which is a rum with you guessed it, 80% alcohol. Not our usual shot but we took a shot in honor of a recently deceased grandmother of one of our friends. Still ended up having normal sex in the morning though so that was nice.

Day 5: no words written but got like 15 new article ideas and a few story ideas, wrote some basic af outlines that are chaotic as fuck but make sense to my low-key drunk ass. Idk, alcohol makes my critical perfectionist voice dimmed so that's a huge help. Although I'll admit browsing Reddit and TikTok also helped finding those things to write about. Tomorrow we're heading home so I guess I'll write a bunch this weekend.

I see. Will you try to get the threesome again? Or is the occasion just gone?

incest ads for incest stories

...on a serious note too OP, your journey looks awesome, mainly because of how organised you clearly are. Seem like the kind of motivated person that would be good to work with. Best of luck with journey

Meh, tomorrow we'll leave and tonight they aren't really feeling well either, forgot to mention that they were also quite new to weed and we made like Spekuk with weed (Indonesian type of cake, well I mean the weed in it isn't typical). So the effect lasted for a good half-day lmao. Eh, next time more luck but I'll definitely message them if they're still interested in a fun time at my place.

Regarding incest, I'm not into actual incest at all, but the appeal of incest stories is that it is taboo and forbidden and that is what makes it hot. Why do you think the top videos on Pornhub are all step-sis and step-mom related? It's just a niche I don't mind writing and a niche that I know will sell well (On Smashwords though, Amazon forbids it)

Thanks man, honestly I'm not that organized, just a creative visionary

Update:
I haven't updated this topic in a while, mainly because I haven't done a lot for the plan either. Mainly because Uni I've decided to finally pick it up again but with a couple of changes to the strategy.

What went well so far:
The Erotica project managed to garner around 700 clicks through social media per story. Often resulting in people clicking through for the next chapters resulting in an overall bounce rate of about 39% . So far I haven't monetized the project but I am growing the audience and Google is finally starting to pick up on my website. About 1/5th of my traffic is now coming through Google.

The downside of this project is that there are some untalented lazy fuckers who use scraping bots to steal my stories and publish them on their own site. One of those stories ended up ranking even higher than my own page despite the stolen post containing links to the next chapters on my own website. I've mailed the webhost a couple of times but they never replied.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I can continue growing and nurturing my audience despite of this setback. I guess it's a sign that you're doing something good when people steal your work.

Currently the erotica project has over 28000 words on the site which I hope to increase to a million in a year.

Next up
I'll pick up on the erotica project again, despite not having posted a story in a month traffic keeps trickling in through social and search. I don't think I'll hit 50K a week anytime soon though because the global Panini and Uni are taxing a lot of my energy and concentration so I'm starting small to build up to 50k.

The authority sites I'll leave untouched for now and the viral site will become my secondary project. I've made a Facebook account and joined a couple of groups related to the topics the viral site will cover. Currently I'm studying which viral posts and quizzes are doing well in the groups while posting content without links to my site yet just to get on the good side of the Admins and build some trust. Sharing links will be a lot easier when people already liked your content before.

So far the Facebook experiment has garnered me 200 likes and about a dozen comments. I'm planning to keep posting content like memes for a week or two before introducing my links ;)
