I am working on site, and will probably have it up completely in a month or so, it is going to be a verry big site,

Is it a bad Idea to start doing some backlinking?

If there is 500+ words of content that contain your keyword, go ahead and do that.
The main thing you have to keep in mind is the newer the domain the less agresive you can be with the backlinking.
Also along the builiding of the site try to bring backlinks to those pages as well.

How many per day would you suggest? There are way more then 500 words so far, but the domain is only like a week old

Well, here's what I did recently (for a girl for Valentine's Day).

I simply created a page with a H1 tag of her name. I did not write anything yet but started blasting backlinks (anchor name of her name).
Surprisingly I got the first position despite there are NO content.

I placed images with alt of her name, typed and bold her name at the end of the page.
No Google Dance or whatever. As a matter of fact, I typed that specified keyword several times with zero content!

So I think as long as you have the keyword, it's ok.

I've blasted sites while I was registering the domain before, had the website up in an hour (wordpress default theme, spun content, youtube embed, 2 relevant outbound links) and ranked #1 position for the keywords I wanted (domain was the keywords). This was about 3 months ago now and rank has done nothing but stay at #1 on a couple keywords and go up on other keywords. I haven't even added anything to the site since throwing it up, just letting the domain simmer until I use it (bought it a year in advance waiting for the release date of what I'm going to sell).
