I am working on an authority site, I already have a few good posts on it and I know the traffic volume even from long tail is good. To rank it I am wondering should I whether learn to build my blog network or just pay someone on there blog network? If yes, please recommend a good guide to do so too.

Yeah, not blog network but a few powerful private networks works better than 100 blog networks that has been used and abused. Here is some tips on how to get started, buy domains with REAL PR off Godaddy and any other auction site, make the content unique and relevant to your site, host on multiple c-class hosting.......Move to the top..:)

Thanks for your answers but I have no idea how to. I have heard recently domains have become even more expensive. Can i build 3-4 pr blogs to see some improvement?

There is always risk in using Private blog networks. It's better to build your own. Yes 3-4 blogs recommended for initial try. Instead you can also build Web2.0 network pages for Tier1 with less budget.

This course just came out on how to build a blog network, with case studies of how the guy (Chris Winters) bought 5 sites for his PR network for about $10-$20 each and moved a couple sites to the 1st page of Google. I have another course of his that teaches you how to setup lead gen sites and he talks a little about Private Blog Networks & It's helped me a lot. It's called SEO 301 Method

Well, having a PBN at hand is never a bad thing...

altough I am not a supporter of expired domains, since on the one hand, they are constantly loosing their PR and authority if you don't spend money on linkbuilding and on the other hand they get worthless, if you change the topic..

    just my 2 cents :)

Where did you get this information from? Tbh I doubt this, because almost any guide / comment by a SEO expert is recommending buying expired domains, as well as betting on my daddy auctions.

Sure, changing the topic will be not good for your PA and others metrics, but I wouldnt say it does make the site worthless, but just less effective.

And loosing some of their PA and DA (Pr is almost worthless as an indicator) due to not getting any new links is imo common for all kind of sites, not just for expired domains.

I speak from what I´ve read and not by experience, so please correct me if Im wrong.

How about both? Rent links, and use/build your own PBN...

You can start your own PBN and in the meantime you can also pay for the links. But PBN do need dedication and some time + cash !!! So make a wise decision !

Everyone is buliding PBNs these days, because it looks its the only way how to do SEO for long term these days. I also build one. Most important when bulding is not leaving any footprints. One domain per hosting, private registrations, real looking sites for possibility some real person from google checks it. It is painful, boring work, but its the best thing for long term income and after few years you will thank yourself you did it while those bought links will probably be gone.

First of all, I don't doubt expireds work, I just don't think they are as good as many people think or wish them to be :)

    1. Premium Expireds aren't cheap - You can't be an expert in everything so if you are doing SEO you probably won't have the time and luck to snap valuable domains with nice PR and/or more important high PA/DA.

    2. From my experience expireds used to work way better 4-5 years ago (like most grey/blackhat techniques), nowadays the search engines are quite good at detecting such things... I have learned this the hard way :/

It also depends on how you implement those things, you definitely have a bigger chance of staying under the radar if you can "steal" the original content from WayBackMachine or buy it from the previous domain owner.

I never stole the original content from other sites I projected, since I live in Germany, where it can be quite expensive to be involved in copyright infringement, although from what I read on BHW, in America such things seem to be the most normal thing in the world...

For example, lets say you buy/register an expired domain with nice SEO stats, do all the 301s to keep the linkjuice, get some content written which is relevant to the old articles (and anchor texts) and all that jazz..

There are many things that all expired projects have in common, e.g.
    - downtime
    - registrant change
    - new host IP
    - old url structure but totally new content not only on page- but domain-level (at least in my case)
    - very often : increase in 301 redirects
    - very often : new theme / new CMS

I believe all those factors make it rather easy for Google to detect such expired domains that get "abused" by SEOs, but I am not sure on this one of cause...

    3. Changing the topic will have medium to pretty high impact, depending on how different the new topic is, this has nothing to do with PR or MozRank (DA/PA) but just with the latest algo updates -> nowadays it has become very important that you are getting backlinks from thematic relevant sites and out of relevant content.

For example having a site with 10000 high pr backlinks from cricket sites with cricket-related anchor texts won't help you much really if you wanna rank stuff in the baby niche - from my experience..

That's just what I think and learned from personal experience and other friends of mine in the SEO business :)

PS: This are just my thought on a single domain, with 10s or even 100s of domains in a network this whole thing is getting even more complicated, but others have written way more on how not to leave any footprints, so better check Google or some BHW threads for more info on this topic in case you are interested [IMG]

If you have just 1-2 sites to manage, then buying/renting links is good option but if you plan to own more sites, then build your own network.

I prefer to stick to bsts since the providers know how to get the best domains. A pbn for most people is really not worthwhile. My experience with network bsts has been very good in ranking sites.

Maybe it is better to build your own network, but it will take a lot of time + a lot of money too. Basically you can just pay for links, and it will be faster and also cheaper.
