I've never seen one and may be opening a BST soon, what would your thoughts be of paying in pounds?

Any of my employees and myself will be from the UK so it would definitely be one less thing to worry about; having to keep converting from dollars to pounds. Also, for many of you converting your money to pounds will get you a greater value in the current climate.

If you guys think dollars is the way to go we can of course do that. I just thought I'd ask as I believe I'd be ground-breaking in the BST section.

Have a nice day! I'll respond later tonight as I'm going out now.

    Cheers Alex

I think the dollar as main currency used in BST is good choice since many if not most of people are from US + countries with currency different than Euro or Pound. Also many people get paid in $ so they would not need to lose money on conversion ratio with paypal for example or with CC.

Theres a psychological advantage in posting prices in Dollars. If I am paying $87 for a service I somehow have it in my thick head that $87 is only about £40. If it was presented to me at the correct price (more like £60ish) then I start to think..hmmm thats stiff enough.

Might be just me though !

Yeah I think like this too. $100 = around £65 in my head.

I'd say keep it $ mate, you may end up alienating a lot of your potential client base by pricing in £. And us guys from the UK feel like we are getting a better deal! :)

I do not see any problem if you or your employees use BSTs it will become a habit to know how much is the price in pounds.

Working in $ is a pain for me. Although i appreciate $ will have more universal appeal if you are offering services wider than UK.
It was a relief to me when adsense changed from $ to local currencies

I saw this on a website and is a good explanation for the dollar vs pound conundrum.

" Why is the price in US Dollars? You?re a UK company!

The components we buy are priced in dollars, and we negotiate manufacturing in dollars. Because currency markets are so volatile at the moment, we price the final board in dollars too so we don?t have to keep changing the price."

That would be a reason for me to go with pounds because any one I'd be paying would be from the UK. Despite that, as said above, I have decided to stick with dollars.

A lot of the business on this forum, as many have said, is done in USD, and therefore it's the most apt currency to sell in given that there are people from 100's of countries here, using many, many different native currencies. Also, as a fellow brit, I remember when 1 GBP = 2 USD, and so still have that semi-reflexive mindset when I first see a product priced in USD.
